I know. I just hate when people push along information that they don't know to be a fact, ESPECIALLY when it comes to something another person did or said. It is one of my biggest pet peeves.

I asked some genius on the Poli board if he could give me a link to where she said something that he was claiming. He told me there were no direct quotes of the deposition on the internet but I could Google and find multiple other sources backing him up.

Here's the depo and the portion on the wedding is excepted here, also. I think it's on about page 130 or so. The tone of the depo seems much different from all of the allegations out there.

You have to read the questions carefully.

LINK

Wonder what the name of the restaurant is and how in the world is stays in business with a black wait staff dressed like "slaves". I'm surprised this hasn't been on the news and the restaurant hasn't been boycotted.

Also, many website are giving just the answers. Reading the questions are vital! Especially knowing it is a deposition with a lawyer asking the questions.

It's nothing more than a witch hunt. If it was Oprah we'd all get a Cadillac and they would be pushing her to run for President.

See this is why I get much more cynical as I get older.

No she didn't. I read the entire 149 page deposition. Did you? I try to not form opinions on a subject until I am fully knowledgeable about it. I knew I'd want to say my two cents on this subject, so I read the entire deposition.

Yes I did read it. She admitted to using the n-word, she admitted to wanting the all black wait staff to dress in "slave era" clothes. There is a very good chance she loses this lawsuit or at the least settles out of court. That kind of PR and how she handled the days after this information came out combined with her declining ratings is why she is being dropped by her employers.

She wanted the wait staff to dress like that for a wedding. She didn't go through with it.

I'll go ahead and remind you of your comment to this post.

quote:

Deen responded, “Well what I would really like is a bunch of little n-----s to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days, they used to tap dance around.”

quote:

She pretty much admitted this in the deposition.

She absolutely, at no part in the deposition, admitted to saying this. And again, had you read the entire deposition, you would know that she did not admit to this. This is my argument. That you stated that she admitted to that quote and she did not.

Yes, she admitted to saying the n word when she was held up at gunpoint at a bank she worked at 30 years ago...which was in no way associated with the plantation wedding conversation. She also admitted to visiting a southern restaurant that had an all black professional wait staff wearing white coats and black ties and she was impressed with the service and would like the same type of service for the wedding.

So not only did you say that she admitted to saying something (quoted) that she didn't, but you continue to defend pushing along information that clearly wasn't in the deposition.

If you did read it, please reference which page number where she admitted to the quote. Anyone that did read the depo (me, Gris Gris) has no problem with referencing page numbers.

She was being facetious.

Geez, Jim. Read the relevants parts of the depo and read the questions along with the answers. Read the part where she said the wait folks looked professional.

Have you never seen a bartender at a nice party dressed in a white coat with a bow tie, black, white or red all over?

If this was Paula Deen's plan for me to feel sorry for her, she is a genius. I couldn't care less about her before this but this has become a joke. People are acting as if this woman is some sort of devil. Who was the last person to go through this kind of public lashing?

I liked it better when Paula wasn't as visible.

I feel like no one here understands what I'm saying. Her deposition really hurt her in regards to this lawsuit. She admitted to things which give a lot of weight to the accusations that were made against her and her brother.

I'm not saying the things she admitted to make her an evil racist, but they certainly did not help her case in the lawsuit. She handled everything after that extremely poorly.

It's become outrageous and the strange thing is that the plaintiff is white making this racial discrimination claim and she only alleges the N word by Paula one time, I believe, and that's relative to this wedding business. It was Paula who admitted to saying it on another occasion.

The sexual harrassment part on behalf of brother Bubba seems to be getting little press.

I said she pretty much admitted to it, meaning the parts she did admit to really hurt her and made the accusations more plausible.

quote:

Yes, she admitted to saying the n word when she was held up at gunpoint at a bank she worked at 30 years ago...

Still hurts her case. And she said she has probably used that word more times. And that her husbad uses it in jokes, blah, blah, blah...

quote:

She also admitted to visiting a southern restaurant that had an all black professional wait staff wearing white coats and black ties and she was impressed with the service and would like the same type of service for the wedding.

And in the depo she said people would read something into it if she used the idea she wanted.

quote:

So not only did you say that she admitted to saying something (quoted) that she didn't, but you continue to defend pushing along information that clearly wasn't in the deposition.

I'm not pushing along any information that isn't in the deposition. Her statements give the accusations much more credibility.

I get what you're saying and I can agree to it to some extent because the media and some people will just run with things. My only issue is passing on information that isn't true.

quote:

I said she pretty much admitted to it,

She didn't "pretty much" admit to it. Saying the wait staff at a restaurant looked professional in their white coats and black ties and saying the little n*$*$ like the Shirley Temple days ain't even close. It's no closer than comparing a foot massage to sticking your tongue in the holiest of holies.
