I made a Texas Sheet Cake last week for my husband and son, who share a birthday.

I divided the batter in half and used two pans. That way, my son and his wife could take one pan home with them. Pecans are optional in the frosting, but to me, the pecans in the frosting really make this cake extra delicious. My son’s half did not have pecans in the frosting because he thinks, and I quote, “Cake shouldn’t be crunchy.”

I think nuts make everything better. Brownies, fudge, salads, pasta dishes (pine nuts), etc., all can be improved with pecans or walnuts, or pistachios, or peanuts, and more.

What’s your opinion?

Nuts.

Unless it's for a crowd, then you may want to take nut allergies into account.

Big fan of the pecans and such.

Although the wife doesn't always agree. Especially when it comes to walnuts. She says they have an old/stale taste and brownies and things are much better off without them.

I like either. Wouldn’t complain either way.

Rather no nuts, I prefer them by themselves, not on cakes/brownies.

I generally like nuts, but I don't care for whole almonds or pine nuts.

I generally hate nuts in stuff like that. I don't enjoy a small, hard little kernel in something soft.

I've never understood the "wanting a crunch" argument because I do not think nuts have a satisfying crunch to them at all. I will concede a bit to pecans as really they aren't all that crunchy, and generally become pretty soft when used like you are describing. Peanuts though, i don't want them anywhere near anything soft.

My favorite cake is a butternut cake from a local bakery in my hometown. Definitely nuts in the cake and the frosting.
