For all you health-conscious eaters who have your eggs and coffee with a side order of guilt, get ready to celebrate the latest government advice: It's OK to eat foods rich in cholesterol, drink as many as five cups of joe daily and enjoy a range of long-disparaged fats.

I'm still waiting for nutrition science to go full Sleeper and declare that chocolate, cream pie, and bacon have tons of life-giving properties as opposed to what people used to think.

The Feds need more people to sign up for ObamaCare so they can say healthcare is too expensive and force us into single payer.

Sugar, especially simple sugars and high fructose corn syrup, have always been the biggest health offenders. Dietary cholesterol really doesn't effect serum levels much, though saturated and teams fats do.

I hope the science is settled and we don't need to discuss this anymore.

I don't pay attention anymore. Every few years they say they were wrong last time and we have new guidelines.

I've been monitoring BBC radio and the New Year message is that red wine is very bad for you because even a little bit of alcohol per day increases risk of cancer. The message warns that cancer risk rises greatly with regular consumption of alcohol, wine, red wine, etc.
So this completely abolishes earlier Govt information indicating that a daily glass of red wine is healthy.
US Democrat and the UK Govt can't be trusted to tell the truth to the people about such things. Nor can we trust these Govts to tell the truth about Climate Change.

Sorry, can't help you on the cream pie.
It looks like the general direction we are going is that sugar is bad and everything else is between OK and good.

I just found the perfect strain of mary jane and am happy to report that I will be drinking a ton less from now on. Maybe 2 glasses of red wine to go along with it about once a week. Looking forward to getting in the best shape of my life over these next 2 months without alcohol holding me from reaching that next level.

Yep, that is why I would support a sin tax on sugar to help pay for medicaid, Odumbasscare, the republican replacement for odumbasscare, medicare, CHIP, etc. It would have to be taxed by the gram or mg and not the L like what Bloomberg tried to do. It might not help the obesity problem, but atleast it will make the fatty mcfatarses pay for the increased medical costs they cause.

The things that don't change: eat lots of fruit and veggies. Stay away from sugar. As long as you can do that, the rest will take care of itself.

This, like climate science changes like the wind.

Clearly a racist tax, as we're told only black people drink Kool-Aid.

The coffee thing is very vague. The new rule says you can have 4 cups a day. But that doesn't take into consideration caffeine content.
I only drink 1 cup a day but it's a Quad Espresso. I have no idea how that compares to 4 cups from the typical office coffee pot.

The real answer is that most things are fine for you in moderation, but anything taken to an extreme can kill you.

And most processed and packaged foods have a shite ton of added sugar and other bad shite, so you really have to stick to 4 corners and even then be careful.
I was just looking at a bottle of V8 that said 100% tomato juice in large font and then in smaller font "+ other added ingredients" or something like that. How fricking stupid do they think we are? If you add something else to 100% of something, then the something is no longer 100% itself.

This all stems from that bogus study in the 70's or whenever that said populations that ate the most fat had the highest health risks. It spurred the explosion of low fat/no fat shite in the 80's and 90's. It was all bogus.

Or you can just jog a couple of miles a day and not really have to worry about a lot of dietary concerns...

What does the government say about fried foods, cocaine and binge drinking whiskey? I ask for a friend....

I would say every female in my life has scolded me about too much sugar for my entire life. It's only now that we are really starting to see it for the poison that it probably is. Nobody has been "wrong" about this.
