Yep. Low Fat became high sugar.

It's still not that hard to eat well, and it's becoming easier than 70s through 00s. You can do healthy, tasty, affordable, and easy, with no hunger. Just have to do a modicum of homework and label reading.

My starch and sugar cravings disappear within a couple days of eating right. It's not magic.

I don't like sugar. Never had a sweet tooth. I attribute that to my early childhood. We were dirt poor. The only drink was water out of the tap. It was free. So I never developed a taste for soda pop.

My wife uses stevia.

Or you can just jog a couple of miles a day and not really have to worry about a lot of dietary concerns...

Yeah, not really.

Jogging a "couple of miles" burns around 200 calories depending on your weight.

That's the caloric equivalent of one 16 oz bottle of soda.

Correct. I often observe that for very fat people trying to lose weight, exercise is the worst thing they can do. They go for a jog and MAYBE burn the 200 you mentioned...and then are in the frame of mind for the rest of the day that "I can eat what I want since I exercised".

The secret to losing weight is to stop eating. It works 100% of the time.

I just found out the other day that distilled water is the best water to drink. It aids brain function in a way that even most "purified" drinking water doesn't.

Yeah, fat self-licening.

Here's an unsolicited rant:

I just worked out pretty hard for about an hour--harder and longer than the ave fat, out of shape person would/could do. I burned about 600 calories total.

That's just a 6-pack of shitty 12oz light beer, which I would easily drink every day (my beers of choice are more like 2X that) with barely a buzz, if I didn't care about being fat.

Or it's a single McD's cheeseburger and small fry. Each of which has almost no nutritional value and leaves you craving more carbs.

I'm 41, 6'(ish) and range between 180 and 200. An injury + holiday/travel/wedding-eating and drinking (starting mid-Oct) landed me at a dumpy, bloated 210 when I weighed on NYE. And I am still more active and eat better than your ave fatass.

The next day, I put myself on a "real food" and exercise plan to be down to 185 by mid-March.

I'll report back, but the "Lose It" app budgets me 1752 cals a day, without exercise, and I eat almost no added sugar, no juice, etc. I'm curious to see the effort and focus required for me to lose this 25lbs in 2.5 months. I haven't weighed in yet.

I used to drink 2000cal shakes just to maintain my weight. Getting old sucks. But, this is really going to come down to cutting out alcohol, to be honest. The rest is pretty easy.

The obesity epidemic we are facing is pretty scary. So I tend to ramble about this shite a lot. Seeing myself get overweight (albeit only slightly, especially by Southern standards) really scared me because if it could happen to me, then I have little hope for the people out there who think drinking diet drinks and eating Cheerios is being healthy.

The filler is all in the middle of the store. How ironic is that?

How many pounds are you trying to lose per week based off of that?

What's that book about?

Is it similar to "8 Weeks to Optimum Health"?

There are sooo many god damn fat people in this country. It's crazy. If I am meeting a middle aged person for the first time, I expect them to be fat. Fat is the new normal. Having a huge stomach as a man or cottage cheese thighs as a woman are considered normal.

I'm 6'2 and got up to about 207 last year. I've been exercising and pack my lunch to work everyday and am down to ~190, where I'd like to stay. Packing lunch is clutch..Throughout the day I snack on fruit, hard boiled eggs, nuts, chicken, salad, etc, and it's food that actually tastes good.

Simple changes make a big difference. Next time you go out to eat, eat a snack before you go to curb your appetite a little bit. Avoid fast food. Drink less beer around the house (this one is huge). You'll see big changes.

THis is the only part that sucks. Im thinking about coming up with some sort of program where I get a beer for every certain amount of miles I run. Maybe make a spreadsheet and everything. Im gonna be a regular Forest Gump before it is all said and done.
