Agree on the first three, but the LaPlace area has the best andouille.
Yeah I got spoiled zig zagging the gulf south for years and would always make it point to find what the locals liked. Weather it was smoked meats, boudin, tasso or Andouille which I've gotten all these from all over the place there's just something about the River Parishes area for Andouille that just hits different.
I'm a little partial to Don's ....
But here's a helpful guide if anyone needs some pointers
Andouille Trail

I've seen it as far east as Covington.
I just got home from the Northshore doing some errands. I stopped at the Rouse's on 190 and they didn't have Rabideaux's sausage. At least I know now I can get French Settlement closer than Hammond/Ponchatoula.

Believe Moe is referring to the region known as The Cajun Prairie. Not a store named that.
Ahh, ok. I was confused there for a second.

There is just something about buying sausage and you get it wrapped in white butcher paper.
Same for smoked boudin

This is the best I've had but I thought I read on here that it had closed?

Doesn't start with a B but Veron is worth the drive.
Factory bad.
Lutcher good.

It's for sale.
I can tell you that the price includes the recipe and 2 workers.
I don't think the owner does much of the work anymore. He has been at it for a long time. I believe he opened in the early to mid 80's. not sure. His wife still works the counter sometimes.
They have a strong customer base.
Word out on the street is that the asking price is pretty steep.

Let me know. I’m always down to try.
Here ya go.
Went to 5 Brothers. Bought the trifecta which included Beef Jerky, Boudin, and smoked sausage.
Beef Jerky is very good.
Boudin is very good. But T-Boys is better. The Best stop is better. Billy's is "sometimes" better. ( I find Billy's to be inconsistant. Sometimes its exceptional, and sometimes "meh" )
Sausage is average. About the same level as Teet's. Paul's is better than both. Not in the same league as Mel's, Big Poppa's, or LeJeunes. And definitely not in the same league as Ardoin's.
The store is neat, clean, and well organized.

Teet’s has been my favorite for quite some time but, lately seems to be a bit inconsistent.

If you're in the Ville Platte area, try Paul's Meat Market. They're very underrated but have good sausage and always have the nice cuts of beef and pork that make those rich brown gravies, like the pork backbone and seven steaks. They also have excellent boudin.
Lejeune's in Eunice also has excellent tasso. Cut up some thick slices of that tasso, brown it and throw it in the pot when you makin a round steak or seven steak and rice and gravy.

I know I’m in the minority but it’s just a little too smoky for me.
I call it chimney sausage for a reason.

Not close enough to Louisiana but if you get to the Panhandle of Florida/Alabama try this:
Never Mind

Not sure how or why but I've found the loose, purchase by weight sausage at the Rabideaux’s store in Iowa taste better than the pre-packaged that is distributed to stores. I grab a few pounds when I'm in the Iowa area and vacuum seal it in 1 pound packs.
Also there is a little known hidden jewel in Oakdale (no pun intended) that sells smoked meats and I love their sausage for gumbo. Jewel's Quick Stop at 406 E. Jackson St.
