Looking at a new grill

I have a Kamado Joe Classic II 18" I bought about 5 years ago. There are times I wish i would have gotten the XL as opposed to the large, but those times are few and far between. The large 18" is perfect for what i use it for. I typically have over family/friends every other weekend or so, so i'm cooking for 4-8 people every weekend + kids, depending on what i cook, and i can fit everything that i've attempted to cook, on the grill. If i need extra space, i have the grill extender that sits higher off the grates.

That being said, i think the primo's are a little bit bigger, but not quite the size of an XL KJ. That would likely be the perfect size.

How many people do you typically cook for?

If I were spending my money today it'd be on a Kamado joe 24" in the newest model they offer.

That being said, I own an XL (24") Big Green Egg that I won at a company event. It does everything I need it to do and I dont need to babysit it if I am doing a long cook. Heat control and retention is great.

Just wanted to add this Black Friday deal I saw

Just got rid of my crappy traeger and the brand new one they sent me to replace it. Sold both. Done with them. Went with a kamado joe 24”. No regrets. Everyone I spoke to said go big and don’t regret it. I’ve cooked on it twice. First time was 6 ribeyes and 4 chicken breasts. Love it so far. Also as of a week ago there aren’t any XL’s anywhere to be found. BBQ guys in Baton Rouge is out and no clue when they will get any in. They told me a couple months usually. Another place on the north shore told me they couldn’t even place an order for the xl until April. I ended up ordering off of Amazon from a place in Texas

I am about to pull the trigger on this same grill. The only reason I haven't yet is I cant decide cart or no cart. Prices are soon going up, so I need to make a decision soon.

I really wanted the BigJoe III, but the thought of moving in a year has swayed me into the direction of the Weber Kamado. All are great grills, and I dont really think you will be mad if you go Primo, Big Joe or Weber Summit.

You can get a Weber Summit Kamado for $1049 that is the same size as the larger ceramics. A lot easier to move around too.

I just bought a RecTeq Bullseye. It’s the same dimensions as a Weber Kettle, but is a pellet grill. I really like it so far.

Inherited it from a family member, been Cooked on probably a dozen times.

I got a vision classic pro and I freaking love it. I gave away my smoker and my other grill when I got it. To do it all again, I would get the classic, not the pro. I think all the knobs are unnecessary and I don’t use the electric starter port.

If it fell over and broke today, I would be at academy this afternoon buying a new one.

Get the classic. There is no need for the super large Kamado/egg unless you have frequent parties. If it is just a family of 4, the classic is all you will need.

22 or 26 inch Weber Kettle would be my choice if I could only have one grill. They are so versatile.
