London Broil

Overlooked piece of beef IMO. I had seasoned one with black pepper and brown sugar and coffee grounds and cooked it low/slow for about 90 minutes. As good as any brisket I ever had.
What is another cut of meat that people cook that is over looked? Anyone ever cook a tri-tip?

Coulotte & chuck-eye steaks are a couple that come to mind for me.

Never heard of anybody cooking a London Broil for 90 minutes. It's usually marinated, cooked hot and fast, and sliced on a bias.

Regardless of what the label may say at the grocery store...London broil is not a cut of beef....It is a cooking method.

Sirloin Cap/Picanha. Can get the entire cut for $7-8/lb choice and cut into steaks.

Favorite cut to smoke/sear by far. A couple of hours of smoke, hard sear on the grill to medium, rest and slice thin. Outstanding.

I've had one seared on a charcoal grill and finished in the oven and it was legit.

My favorite cut for hot and fast. The problem is they can be hard to find where I currently live in South Carolina.
In Boise for the week, where I'll be moving soon, and they're everywhere here (not surprising since it's a west coast cut). Really looking forward to having tri-tip more frequently.

Where do you find tri tip in Louisiana?

Here's a great LB marinade.
London Broil Marinade
4 cloves Garlic, chopped
1/4 cup Red Wine Vinegar
1/4 cup Balsamic Vinegar
3 Tbs Lemon Juice
2 or 3 Tbs Dijon Mustard
2 Tbs Worcestershire Sauce
1.5 Tbs Soy Sauce
1 tsp Oregano
1 tsp Thyme
1 tsp Basil
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
Mix together all ingredients in small bowl. Pour over London Broil in ziploc bag or foodsaver bag. Marinate for at least 24 hours for best flavor.
You can either grill the meat (basting often with marinade) or you can Broil it in the oven-- I broiled mine on high in a pyrex dish WITH the marinade for 10 minutes on each side and it came out perfect.

I've been getting these on sale near the house for under $5/lb. Has the texture of tenderloin. Amazing cut of beef that I'd never heard of before.

I actually just found that Costco sells it for $6/lb but it's in a two pack.

Costco always has them.
Trader Joe's seems to always have them.
I bought one once at Albertson's

I’ve done two and didn’t love it either time. I think I got a bad cut of meat and it didn’t pick up enough smoke
