I drink all styles of beer but prefer IPAs. And I'm about as far from being a hipster as you can get.

Which have you had?
I'm someone who specifically orders their margarita without salt, yet I have only had a couple of gose I've found too salty.

Are they an acquired taste? I've been expanding my beer selections for a few years but still can't seem to like the bitterness.
Many types of IPA. Some are dank, some are juicy, some are floral, and some are more balanced.

B. They've been around for a really long time
To the OP, I hated my first IPA, but that had more to do with the fact that it was a shitty IPA. If you have it in your mind that BMC is what "beer" tastes like, it'll take a little while to get accustomed to drinking a beer with actual flavor.

Yep and checking dates cans/bottles make a difference in an IPA's taste as well no matter the balance, dankness, juiciness, etc. i didn't always like them but they are my favorites now along with stouts.
