Ellic's first Indian restaurant is now open. Other than hearing of Tikka masala on Good Eats, I know nothing about it. I do love Thai Curry though, so if any Indian curry is similar, please advise. Anyway, here's the menu-looking forward to suggestions.

I was ready to suggest Chicken Vindaloo but it looks like that’s not an option.
Must be a more north India oriented place.

Do they offer a lunch buffet? I'm a sucker for a good Indian lunch buffet and it is a good way to try all of the different dishes to find what you like best.

There's an Indian place in town that is a go-to for my wife and I, we go or get delivery from there pretty much once every month or two.

Our staples are lamb vindaloo and saag paneer (spinach w/ cheese) with garlic naan and basmati rice.

Their vindaloo is very volatile, sometimes it's very flavorful and sometimes it's melt your face off spicy (still delicious). I enjoy that game of roulette.

Indian curry is very different from Thai curry, but equally good in its own right.

Most people like butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. They're a good introduction into indian food.

Goat curry is excellent, but again, different from Thai curries in that you're not going to get that sweetness that comes from the coconut milk, but it is still delicious. Start with those and venture out from there.

Indian food is amazing. If they have a lunch buffet, I highly suggest going and trying as much as you can. Most of it is delicious and I am not someone who will eat everything like many on here.

if you like lamb then rogan josh is usually good. tomato based curry.

Butter chicken is good.

I love vindaloo but dont see that option.

the royal samosa (veggie samosa) is usually quite good at most places. deep fried hard dough filled with veggie mash. you probably get two dipping sauces. i must for me every order

vegetable korma and saag paneer for veggie options are pretty traditional and hard to F up.

DO order Naan, flat bread for sopping and cleaning the plate.

Butter chicken & vegetable korma are pretty good introductions to Indian food. Treat yourself and get some of that garlic naan too.

Hard to beat some quality Indian food. The base (sauce) is full of flavor and consists of spices cooked down with vegetables and yogurt, coconut milk and/or cream. The curry, butter, and tikka masala chicken entrees are very good groceries. Any of the naan's are great for sopping up the sauces as I prefer the garlic buttered or pesto versions.

butter chicken

If you like spinach, Saag Paneer is also a great dish ... fresh spinach, fried paneer cheese, onions, tomatoes, coconut milk, curry paste, garam masala spices

Biryani is a favorite of mine, but I’ve only ever had chicken or shrimp. Your options seem to be chicken, goat or vegetarian. I’ve never had goat, so I’d go with chicken.

Samosas and pakoras are really good apps, although I’ve never had a fish pakora, only veggie.

I'd order that with some garlic naan if you're a first timer.

If you're going with someone else I'd order one of the vegetarian dishes also like saag paneer.

Not very similar to Thai curries but I think you'll like

I can never pass up Saag (Lamb, Paneer, etc.) at an Indian place.

May not be the most appetizing looking thing, but it's really good.

And the garlic naan is a must.

Dal Makhani rules (as a side) but any kind of dal is great. Dal means lentils.

Anything cooked in the tandoor is going to be great.

You can’t go wrong with lamb kebabs.

Chana Masala, made with chick peas, is another great side.

Vindaloo and Biryani are great. If you see Achari Kadhai on the menu, try it if you’re not afraid of some heat. So, so good.

I’m more a fan of plain Naan brushed with butter, but to each their own.

Mango pudding makes for a nice dessert.
