I will give them another shot though at some point bc I LOVE Indian food and it’s our only option here. Maybe just to-go next time though.

Problem with most Indian restaurants is that they hire Indian students from local university to work as waiters. Those kids are looking for extra cash and they are not invested in the restaurant.
Also some owners don’t share the tips and pay set price.

My naan had a slight char but was delicious and like you the food was great.
It was 1. There were 3 booths occupied I wouldn’t want to be there if it gets busy
But it is destined for failure if they don’t correct service issues. And the two Indian folks there seemed pretty much unconcerned w anything but their phones

Not sure what kind of paneer you’ve been eating lol. We have friends who moved here from India in the last ten years and have served us paneer. It is not tofu and is most definitely dairy cheese. It’s basically Indian cottage cheese

Ditto on the Indian guy there. My brother kept asking me “why doesn’t he help out and take an order or something “. All I saw him do was stand around on his phone and go smoke right out front for everyone to see. I’ll be back bc it’s good Indian food (and the ONLY option) but I doubt I’ll be dining in again.

Cottage cheese? Gross. What I’ve always seen has been tofu, roughly cut into cubes and doesn’t melt or break down in a hot dish.

Finally got to go here. My thoughts/experience...
Service is glacial. Do not go if you're in a hurry. Waitress only knew the menu slightly better than I did.
When I comment on the food, keep in mind I am not judging it in relation to other Indian places, as this is my only experience with the food.
Appetizer: Peshawari chicken. This is thigh meat(which is what sold me) served fajita style complete with sizzling skillet. This was the star of the meal for me. I will be getting this and this only for lunch often.
SO got dal bukhara against my wishes, as I was hoping she would get butter chicken or another main entrée to share. Not my thing, but it was very good.
I got the hyderabadi goat dum biryani based upon one of your recs. Came in a huge bowl and covered with a thin bread that reminded me of pot-pie style but was probably the same stuff as the Naan. Very different flavor I was not familiar with. Saffron maybe? It was ok, but would never order again. Way too many bones, way too little meat, and enough rice for 3 people. Would be good for a table of 4 or more where people are trying different things or if you just really like rice.
Pesto Naan. We loved this. I am not a bread eater, but could eat this stuff all day.
Will be going back ASAP.

It’s all fantastic. I had a roasted bone marrow dish at Saffron back when it used to be on the Westbank and it was one of my favorite dishes of all time
Word to the wise, when they ask for your spice level say low I said medium once thinking I was a south LA baw that could handle it. Lord have mercy that was an experience

I got “Indian spicy” on some chettinad at skagit one time and was sweating like mike Tyson in a spelling bee. Full disclosure here but we went to tj maxx off Siegen shortly after and I should have never trusted a fart after that meal.

The Ellick restaurant is beyond bad service-wise. The food is really good but it's like some Indian guy woke up one day and decided to open a restaurant without any planning or forethought. I want it to succeed but they really need someone with experience to advise them on operations
