Anyone ever have this happen?

Wasn’t the largest whiskey and ice I ever had. Not sure what caused that.

And it was immediate

Your usual brand? If not, I’d suspect an allergy to something in the new variety.
Or you were already quite dehydrated before the alcohol kicked in, making it worse.f

I considered dehydration.

And no, it wasn’t my usual brand. But I’ve had it before

It could be completely unrelated to the drink. sinus, allergy, tension?

One whiskey would do that to you in college? Lightweight.

Must be something other than the whiskey.

Allergy or enzyme changes. Age a factor in the latter.

All allergies require some kind of previous exposure. So it is only due to lack of education on allergies that it surprises people to suddenly come down with allergic reactions to stuff.

Both can be "age related". Changes over time to enzymatic systems of the body (think metabolism slowdown as we age and get that beer gut) or auto immune malfunction triggering the allergy could be the cause.

I get splitting headaches from a single draft beer. Bottled or canned is fine (not that canned draft stuff though, it hurts too). Liquor is no problem either, or was, chronic pancreatitis prevents me drinking now.

Some people have this reaction to certain whisky...I can drink bourbon like water and be fine...sometimes scotch will give me an awful pounding headache after one glass

Did you wash your fingers before you dipped them in?

The whiskey could have been icing on the cake if what your diet was that day or last few days.

Heavy carbs, loads of sugars, lack of water, lack of veggies, lack of sun etc

I think the problem is you're not drinking enough whiskey on a regular basis.

That's why I drink a lot of dark liquor every evening. Have to keep the body on a maintenance schedule or it gets out of balance.

you're welcome.
