Doctor says no solid foods for 6 weeks. I’m trying to plan out some ideas and variety that won’t get old.

How's the guy's hand who clocked you?

Seriously, I would roast various vegetables like squash or califlower and puree them ftw.

You’re going to need a lot of whey protein.

Puree some different fruit for something sweet. Do the same with vegetables.
Make some rich homemade broths with chicken, beef etc.
Soups like broccoli/cheese or potato/leek would be good, but you'd have to use a blender to puree the larger chunks of vegetables.
Hell, you could even to that with a homemade vegetable/beef soup to get some protein from the pureed meat. Truthfully, just about any stew or soup can be pureed enough to become a liquid diet.
Smoothies, ice cream, frozen yogurt for the sweet tooth and lots of calories if needed.
Oh, and have the Mrs. go to Costco and get the big bundle of toilet paper. All that liquid diet will have you with the squirts until your system adapts.
And never underestimate the importance of a few calories from beer or other adult beverages.

6 weeks. Man you’re about to drop weight.
At least it is soup season.

Hamburger steak, mash potatoes, steamed vegetables, a little gravy or beef stock, a blender
Soft shell crab, crab boil red potatoes, a little seafood or other stock, a blender.
Ground italian sausage, red sauce of your choice, steamed zucchini and squash, a blender.
Jello and a blender.

I know advocare is a pyramid scheme or whatever, but their meal replacement shakes are really good. I could eat one a day for three months no problem.
That sucks though. Hate it for you.

Sorry. Didn’t clarify but it’s for my 16yr old. Thanks for all the suggestions. Brotha and soups sound like a good idea. Guess I’ll be making another gumbo soon too

I had a broken jaw after getting jumped in high school.
I'm assuming his mouth is wired shut?
The pureed food is going to sound like a good idea, but it's gross and will still get little pieces of food stuck. Don't spend a whole lot of time trying to plan out blended meals unless they can be basically pure liquids. I lived off of boost/ensure shakes during the day and protein shakes at night. His stomach is going to shrink so much that towards the end just one of those shakes will fill him up completely.

Everything in a Blender.
Mom had some serious skin cancer removed from side of her nose a few years back, basically skinned entire left side of it. Surgeon split a cheek and folded over to sew on her nose to make new nose skin. The result was for several weeks she could barely speak because even mumbling moved her lips/cheek too much to tolerate the pain. I had a friend with broken mandible in college and Mom was way less "mobile" than his wiring. Basically had to use a funnel on a wide straw as sucking a straw was not viable for a few weeks.
Spaghetti, hamburgers, fried chicken even, all went into blender at some point, along with veggies.
She especially liked burgers and pizza liquefied. Think her favorite was pasta alfredo though.
ETA: Don't just use plain water as an additive for liquefying. Can use complementary flavor enhancers like lemon juice, apple cider, beer, wine, that kinda stuff. Kinda like milk and cookies, there are known combos that mix well.

1/2 cup marinara
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in an oven proof dish.

Be mindful of eating anything crazy/creative until he/she is able to be off of 'serious' pain meds in case of vomiting. You want it to be easy to pass through the wires so they don't panic if that happens.
Best of luck to all of you through this ordeal and for a smooth recovery

I would suggest a Sonic slush but you probably don’t want to go back.

it gets hard because everything that is the easiest (protein shakes, ensure, ice cream, smoothie king, slushes, etc) are all usually based around being sweet, which gets really annoying after awhile
mashed potatoes and gravy (with a little extra liquid to make it runny) and lots of blended soups were the go-to savory items
i would also drink pickle juice just to taste salt

hammertime warned you once, he wasnt going to do it a second time...
roasted vegetables (until soft) are a good option. sweet potatoes, carrots, parsnips, acorn squash, shite like that. season well, roast and then mash
