Me too. I love the bread/meats/cheeses but I don't like olives so that makes it a no-go for me too.

And the Primantis sandwich (tried it twice) and its terrible. After that I just ordered a pizza.

I love a sloppy roast beef from New Orleans.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Chicago hot dog is a joke. I've never seen a more contrived specialty sandwich. None of the toppings go together and the taste sucks big time.

Yeah I like olives but I don’t want an olive salad on bread. Not completely gross but I would just never crave that.

You mentioned a lot of really great sandwiches. I'll add the Buffalo, NY native creation, Beef on Weck.

Rare roast beef on a kaiser style roll topped with course salt & caraway seed. Only condiment is a bit of prepared horseradish on the bottom bun & a quick dip in jus from the roasted meat for the top bun.

It's great because it's simple.

I'm with you here. I believe that the truly great sandwiches of the world are truly great because of their simplicity and how well a handful of ingredients just work together.

My favorite regional sandwich is the cheesesteak. Least favorite is the muffaletta.

I'm a sucker for a good Reuben, too, but I haven't had a really good one in ages.

How bout a pulled pork sandwich from the Carolinas?

That would be my favorite, along with a New York Reuben.

Lots of good regional sandwiches.

New England lobster roll
NOLA Po Boy or Mufaletta (or Frenchuletta at Liuzzas)
Philly cheese
Chicago Beef
New York Pastrami or Corned Beef

On the other hand, a Primanti's Pittsburgh sandwich is so overratted. A crappy burger with crappy slaw and fries... yuck.

Connecticut lobster roll >>>>> Maine lobster roll ETA: hot and heavy on butter vs cold and heavy on mayo

I have tried them side by side many times and Maine always wins (and the mayo is light, not heavy). I always thought I’d like Connecticut style better, but don’t. It’s chewy with less flavor. Maine style is tender and sweet.

Philly cheesesteak... I’m ok with the thin sliced grilled meats, onions ,but that jar chee whiz gotta go. Now put some mayo in that hogie bread, add some provolone cheese and perhaps some hot giardiniera and you would have iconic.

pretty much every cheesesteak place gives you the option of provolone or whiz. The ones that dont usually opt for provolone.

Top Tier (excellent):
New Orleans muffaletta
Miami Cuban
Maine lobster roll

Middle Tier (good):
New Orleans po boy
Philadelphia cheesesteak

Bottom Tier (I can live without it):
Kentucky Hot Brown
Chicago Italian Beef

Never had it (can't judge):
Primanti's Pittsburgh sandwich
Baltimore pit beef

I’ve never had a lobster roll, chicago italian beef, baltimore pit beef, or a Louisville hot brown.

For me, my favorites are:
L.A. french dip
New Orleans roast beef po’boy w debris
Philly cheesesteak (so long as I can get provolone instead of wiz)
New York corned beef pastrami on rye

I actually love a good muffuletta, and Primanti bros is solid, albeit overrated.

Favorites: classic NOLA oyster poboy and Miami/key west Cuban

Least favorite: muffaletta. Olive dressing is horrid and the meat to bread ratio is just dumb

Chop cheese is up there as a favorite.

Gotta Agree with Primanti bros, I didn’t enjoy it. Also not a fan of rubios fish tacos in SD.

Soft Shell Crab sandwich in Baltimore/Maryland would probably be good on this list.

This could derail into a BBQ sandwich dick measuring contest real quick if you said Brisket Sandwich/Pulled Pork etc.

Does Nashville do hot chicken sandwiches in Nashville or is that something every other city took then changed to a sandwich so you can eat it between bread? I've only had the chicken with bread in Nashville NOT on bread

I'm not a fan of bread that can cut the roof of my mouth as I eat it. If a cuban sandwich or po'boy or anything like that is toasted too long I don't like it anymore. It's probably why I think the Cuban is a bit overrated. Po Boys I like more because when done well they aren't hard.
