A new, old dog from New Orleans has come to Baton Rouge.

Has anyone here tried it?

After looking at the menu and photos online, if this place survives for very long, I will be very surprised. It looks like they put the maximum of minimum effort into this restaurant, both in initial market research and creating an overall feel (atmosphere and decor) of the place.

As far as the food, I don't need to try the food. I'm sure it's fine, maybe even above average. But this isn't about the food.

There's one thing that is glaring to me: the clientele. Who are the customers they hope to attract? Is there enough of those people to go around in Baton Rouge? Something tells me no.

I find very little that's noteworthy about Drago's. At their price point, I'm just not seeing any good reason to keep going back.

On second thought, the nearby hotel guests may keep them going a while longer, but I am still predicting mediocre sales once the locals give up on it. A daily supply of ignorant customers is a godsend for shity restaurants.

Full disclosure: I don't support New Orleans restaurants coming to Baton Rouge.

I wish we would get ton's of NO restaurants, just not the one we have been getting. We don't need any more crabmeat and Hollandaise in BR. We need more restaurants like Table 5. Hey Atchafalaya, Mr Link, Shaya, Toups etc. etc...
Please come to BR.

Agreed. Cochon would have been a better fit for BR than Laffy and I still regret we didn't get the second location.

So your opinion on the feel of the place is based off online photos??

And his admission that he already doesn't think restaurants should come here from New Orleans.

I would support all of the following NOLA area restaurants/businesses opening locations in BR:
Ben’s Burgers
Ye Ole College Inn
Rock n Bowl
Checkpoint Charlie’s
Port of Call
Company Burger
Parkway
Drago’s
New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Company
Liuzza’s
R&O’s
CK Hot Shoppe
Cuchon
Cuchon Butcher
Toups
Shaya
Blue Oak
Krystal
Turkey & the Wolf
Urban South
Mandina’s
Mosca’s
Bacchanal
Mother’s
Central Grocery
Peche
Avenue Pub
Juan’s Flying Burrito

And even Turkey & the Wolf. If they make great food and can keep the consistency, I say welcome.

I think more correctly, New Orleans restaurants don't want to come to BR.

Because if anyone has an understanding of the restaurant atmosphere and market research it's clearly you.

They seem to have broken the curse of the Johnston st. / Doucet rd location here in Lafayette.

That being said, I've only eaten there once. The food is pretty good, but overpriced. I rather Don's down the street.

It's pretty awesome, OP finds little of Dragos "noteworthy" and see's no reason to go back but also has an issue with them expanding to a different city
