Yeah Ninfas/Tio and Ruth's Chris have struggled mightily to stay open for decades on the same street

Galatoire’s was decent circa 2007 when they were off Perkins near Highland. Not sure why they didn’t want to just stay there.

They wanted to be closer to downtown, where you have all of the Legislative and legal big shots, and the big private sector employment places, like Corporate Boulevard, Essen Lane and Jefferson Highway. That old spot was just too far out for those types to go at lunch and talk about business or a bill or a case.

Not exactly a New Orleans institution. I'll allow it.

Same goes for them. I'll allow it.

These are NOT restaurants that people associate with New Orleans.

So you’re just going to be selective about what is or isn’t “New Orleans”, when both of those examples clearly come from the NOLA metro area?

Ok boomer.

I went for a family members birthday circa 2010ish and it was terrible. The food was not even decent and everything was incredibly overpriced.

Please tell me why?

surrounded by 5 large hotels with easy access to I-10? Have you tried to go eat at any of the restaurants in that area on a Friday night? They are all slammed.

Not sure about nowadays but that Chili’s off College and I-10 was one of the chain’s busiest restaurants in the country. This was back in 1998 when someone told me this. It’s been 22 years so not sure if still the case.

Most of the chains in BR seem dead to me when I pass. They seem to have largely fallen out of favor with the under 50 crowd. I drive past that Red Lobster they built near the mall daily and there are never more than a few cars in the lot.

J Alexander's does well but they have much better food than most chains imo.

They seem to have broken the curse of the Johnston st. / Doucet rd location here in Lafayette.

Days are numbered. Last two times I ate lunch there I was one of maybe 8 people there.

Horrible location. Drago’s would kill it in the old Sammy’s Prairieville location - or the Highland Rd Spot

Yeah Ninfas/Tio and Ruth's Chris have struggled mightily to stay open for decades on the same street

I ate a lot of lunches at the Drago's in Metairie and they were ALL on someone's expense account - same with Ruth's Chris - the meals are generally good, but can be expensive, especially for a lunch menu - I don't know about dinner, only lunches

you are right about the location and proximity to the other restaurants - I think Ruth's Chris is not doing well, not because of the food, but because it's an expense acct. type of place and new IRS rules and company policies are having an effect on exp acct's

I stand corrected - this is great news for BR since that means there is a growing economy here and that translates into Nice Business Lunches at nice places

I wish our Ruth’s Chris was open for lunch more than just Friday.

Really? Went to Tio's on Sat and it was packed. It always seems to have a decent amount of diners when we go to lunch in the middle of the week as well.

Yep. We have a working lunch with vendors there fairly regularly and it's always pretty crowded, even on a random Tuesday.
