I don't support New Orleans restaurants coming to Baton Rouge.
Why?
Baton Rouge should have its own restaurant culture. There should be a distinction between us and them. I have a Baton Rouge restaurateurs first mentality. Baton Rouge is the Capital City. It should be able to stand on its own and do its own thing.

That’s like saying Tallahassee shouldn’t have any Miami, Jacksonville or Tampa based restaurants. Or like Nashville shouldn’t have any Memphis or Knoxville/Chattanooga restaurants.

They do, it's chain restaurants.

So you're a fan of Longhorns and Applebees.

Meh. That was a legitimate knock on BR 30 years ago but is no longer the case.

I'd say it was closer to 10 years ago.

To stand out from the crowd. To be appealing in its own way. To give people a reason to come here instead of going there. To be its own destination.

so your solution is to avoid them and try to sway others from giving them business? How's that working out?

Baton Rouge doesn’t have a genre of cuisine invented there. It’s a relatively young transplant city at the crossroads of several regional cultures (Miss Delta, Cajun, Creole, redneck), thus its restaurants are often a hodgepodge. That’s not a bad thing. It’s okay to be a city without a clear identity if one markets itself as a melting pot of surrounding cuisines.
However, if EBR Parish has one thing their own, it’s gotta be strip mall sushi restaurants. EBR must have the most sushi and poke places per capita in the world. There’s probably more restaurants than citizens of Japanese ancestry. It’s insane!

I'd agree with that, but Baton Rouge has made huge strides when it comes to the quality of restaurants one can have a meal at. No, it will never rival New Orleans (it's one of the greatest food cities in the world so not many places can) but people acting like Baton Rouge is all chain restaurants are either trolls or...nope, just trolls.

I was just kidding. BR has some nice places to eat.

No. They will sway people themselves by being themselves. People won't return because they aren't worth returning to.

Pretty well.
Where is Galatoire's? Where is Lee's Burgers?
Acme Oyster House is the exception. I don't dislike or like it. My experience with them has ranged from good to bad. I have zero desire to return. They aren't any better than other similar restaurants in Baton Rouge. (Obviously Parrains is better.) Their location has saved them. That Acadian and Perkins area is the best area for restaurants. Too bad there are two banks fricking up those prime restaurant locations on the corners of Acadian and Perkins. It is the center of baton rouge. LSU is there. Downtown is only a few minutes away. Surrounded by neighborhoods and shopping. Hence the reason it pissed me off when Galatwats located there. From my prospective, they attempted to stake a claim in the heart of Baton Rouge, as far as prime restaurant locations goes. Good riddance.

Ruby Slipper is thriving there too, baw.
Curious to see if Atomic Burger will make it.

Horrible location. Drago’s would kill it in the old Sammy’s Prairieville location

Did you ever eat there? It was absolutely terrible, hence why the shut down. Same with Provisions. Overpriced garbage.

I want to hear from people when they try it. I will be proven correct.
People will be drawn to the name. I expect the food to be good, but overpriced for what is offered. (AKA a poor value) Charbroiled Oysters will be damn good. Better places to get a drink. The curb appeal of the building is shite. Interior will be found wanting. Waitstaff will be good, but lacking in professionalism. And little to nothing that is noteworthy. The Drago's name ain't gonna be enough to keep it going.

Galatoire’s was decent circa 2007 when they were off Perkins near Highland. Not sure why they didn’t want to just stay there.
