Can’t beat straight off the tree. Store bought fruit and veggies aren’t the same.

I'm pretty sure my household provides a meaningful percentage of annual apple revenue to US growers.

I used to not like them when I was younger because I thought they tasted like wet cardboard, but the new varieties are delicious.

Planted 20 apple trees of varying types. They are about 4 years old now. no apples yet.

We also have 3 30+ year old apple trees on old homesteads. I fertilize these also and they produce some great apples.

Get about 25 gallons of apple cider every year. Make it into hard cider and cyser (also have 75 bee hives so "free" honey).

A fresh Macintosh apple is special. Apples from the store bought from mikes away from where you live are like so many fruits. Picked before ripe and ruined.

Man...the downvotes! I'm the same. Love apple juice/sauce/pies/cobbler, but not a fan of eating them plain.

I love using the Granny Smith's for baking apple pies. I peel, core and slice them thin and toss them in a pan with about 1/4 stick real butter and start cooking them down.

As they start to wilt and give off some liquid I will toss in some brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract and cook them until the liquid in the pan is thickened to a heavy syrup consistency.

Then I make the pie and bake it for 40 or so minutes until the crust is golden brown.

I eat at least one Cosmic Crisp a day. Sometimes 4 or 5.

I’ve eaten various varieties daily my whole life. Honey Crisp was the first really game changer for me and when Cosmic Crisp was developed it just elevated that.

Haven’t had a red delicious in 30 years.

Get you one of the Oxo (or other good brand) apple slicers. Works great. Leaves the core, which I toss out the back door for the critters.

Or do like retired Justice David Souter who reportedly had a daily lunch of yogurt and an apple, which he ate core and all.

I once made love to a gf (now an ex) in an apple orchard in Wisconsin. It was pretty sweet, not gonna lie. We ducked off behind a maintenance shed and some tall grass and got it on. Apples never tasted better than that day.
