I love chargrilled oysters, and was wondering how good would using shucked oysters from a container(Louisiana Poduct) cooked great n one of these? After putting all the fixings over the oyster, will the difference be that much? Thoughts, before I go purchase 2 dozen of these, lol. FYI, I hate shucking oysters and looking for an easier way.

Should be perfectly fine. I shucked oysters years ago, then kept the shells and washed them heavily, and I now buy already shucked oysters and use the same shells over and over again and I notice no real difference.

These would be awesome to have to make for guest for parties at the house. The easy prep is what makes this idea attractive. Glad to hear a positive review.

They work great, just a pain in the arse to clean

Friend of mine has a ton of those and she uses them all the time when she has a lot of people at one time. She buys gallons of shucked oysters and grills them in these. They work great.

FYI: They make disposable aluminum foil shells...
Cleanup? What cleanup?

Like these?
I like that even better. You can cook a half dozen at a time and they come in their own plate! Hell, you could probably do two oysters in each dimple and do a whole dozen.

Wouldn't the shells crack and break up over time after multiple cooks?

I have 3 dozen. I do exactly what you are wanting to do a few times a year. I actually put 2 or 3 oysters in them depending on the size. There is absolutely no difference in taste, I have done a side by side with fresh shucked on the halfshell.
One important recommendation about the cleaning aspect of it. Spray with Pam or some cooking spray before you put your oysters in. Makes cleanup a bit easier.
I also reuse them if I am doing more than a gallon. Once people are done I just refill them with oysters and the butter/garlic/herbs/spices/cheese and grill another batch. I am usually doing this for family or close friends though. Not sure how that would go over with your group.

I've almost ordered that like 12 times. Please update and let me know how it works out for you.
