Buffalo Trace Bourbon

Elijah Craig is a good reasonable priced one. Buffalo Trace is pretty easy to find and pretty inexpensive. Rouses in Baton Rouge has it for $23.99 all the time.

Johnny Drum and Heaven Hill bottled in bond are my two “go to” bottles. Both should be pretty readily available and under $50.

If you’re ever alone the FloraBama this summer, you can buy all the Buffalo Trace you want to at their liquor store.

Try Michters US1 small batch…it’s really good for a lower proof

Never was much of a Woodford guy, but it is amazing how much better the double-oaked is than the standard.

Good list overall by the way. Can't really disagree with any of them but I would add Wild Turkey 101 to the everyday drinkers. For the price, proof, and flavor profile, it is hard to beat.

This is a solid list and will keep you busy. Try the cheaper Wild Turkey 101 first to see if you like the extra char in Wild Turkey/Russel products. I enjoy the char but usually get WT Rare Breed if i get a WT product.
Eagle Rare is a Buffalo Trace product that will be more expensive than the BT.

To determine the type of bourbon you like there a few producers that really have a distinct note.
Sweeter Notes - Wheated Bourbons
(BT, Green River, Bardstown, Weller, wheated prods etc)

Heavier Char - Wild Turkey products
(WT, Russells, Rare Breed)

Not as Sweet as Wheated Bourbons but still capture some fruit and banana note - Old Forester products.

To me these 3 groups really jump out at me as far as being totally diff notes between them.

Then you can branch out and try some Ryes. Totally diff flavor, but good stuff. (Michters, Sagamore, Rare Breed Rye, Still Austin Rye)
