Plenty of beers like that available. It's good to mix it up sometime. Might prefer a 12oz but I'd give this one a try.

I'm assuming you are referring to pale lagers. If so, pale lagers brewed prior to industrialization had lactic acid concentrations of around 0.2%, which makes for a decent tartness, similar to what you'd find in modern goses.

You people have been trying the wrong shite from Bayou Teche.
The saison is decent enough on a warm day.
Other than that, you should be drinking their barrel stuff (Biere Joi, Meil Sauvage, Loup Garou) and Cocodrie.

why? I get that a gose is lactic sour beer with salt added. I hope to God they aren't just adding vinegar and salt to a base beer. ETA: After reading the article, it's not. Whew...

I want to say I was told that it was almost entirely out of existence before it was revived and became big again over the past few years.

Not sure if there's been a resurgence or not but people in TX love that stuff. The brewpub where I work has only been open since October and we have already had two house-made goses on tap. They sell like crazy (one was made with blue spruce tips and was really awesome) because they're light, although the style is not for everyone. One of the brewers drinks gose anytime he eats sushi because the saltiness pairs nicely with the fattiness of the fish.
I think this Zapp's one sounds interesting, I'd try it.

That's true. I am a beer snob, but the style should have been taken out behind the barn and shot in the head decades ago.

Ehh... I like Real Ale's gose on a hot summer day after working in the yard. But theirs' is canned and reasonably priced.
The rest are usually in bottles and overpriced. I don't buy those, nor would I order a pint at a bar.

See, this was one of the first I tried and I didn't like it at all. They take sour and salty to the next level. It took me a while to try some others, and I like the more restrained ones a lot more.
