re: Anyone here appreciate a good Bourbon and Coke every now and then?

I like a Jack and Coke about once a month. No other whiskey pairs better with it IMO.

I’ll tell you what doesn’t pair well with Coke: Bulleit Bourbon. That was the only choice they had at a venue I went to about a year ago and it was awful.

The only answer is Jack and coke.

ETA: But since I am an old fart, it's Coke Zero these days.

Technically, it meets all the requirements of Bourbon, so you'd be wrong.

At one time it was my go-to drink. Jack Black, Coke and a squeeze of lemon to take the sweetness out the Coke.

No longer drink the darker liquors and now stick to vodka, gin, rum and silver tequila.

Beam + Coke Zero (can't stand the aftertaste of Diet coke)

Sub-in Beam Devil's Cut, Knob Creek, Elijah Craig -- the better the bourbon, the less Coke Zero in the mix

That used to be my drink when you used to have to smuggle bourbon in to the stadium.

Old Charter and Coke was my grandfather's go to. Introduced me to it when I was early teens. Brings back memories.

If I'm going to do a soda, which I haven't done in years, it's going to be Sprite/7.

I'll enjoy a neat single malt every now and again and I still like a lot of gin-based drinks for some reason, but in general I'm not a liquor guy anymore. Which has some benefits, of course.
