Pay out for Miles and his staff now for O and his staff, no doubt money means nothing when you do not have to earn that money.....

Lsu earns that money by being a top 5 most recognizable college brand in the US. Our brand is as recognizable as Bama, Texas, notre dame, Ohio state, and USC. Our name is worth that much money, they earn it from ticket sales tv rights and sponsorships. Not to mention the massive booster money backing them. It ain't your money so stop fricking working about it.

Orgeron didn’t get big money until we won the natty. That seems to be LSU’s m.o.

So how do you get coaches to come to your university when they're all going to make the same money for winning? Money is usually how you lure a coach to your university. How about focusing on doing better with the hiring process instead.

You are hired and paid for your past or potential. You are retained for your achievements. That is the case in most of the business world.

So we can assume you don't understand how capitalism, the free market, and negotiations work, right?

NO coach, except maybe those desperate for a job, would agree to a contract where they only get paid for wins rather than a contract where they get paid regardless.

Here's how your proposal would work in real life:

Ohio St AD: "Hey coach. We'd like to offer you a 5 year $40 million contract to coach our team."

LSU AD: "Hey coach, we'd like to offer you a 5 year, $60 million contract with payment contingent upon wins. Coach? Coach are your there?"

Coach to LSU AD: "You aren't serious, right? No thanks. I think I'll just sign with Ohio St. But if you ever decide to live in the real world one day, feel free to call"

So you would void contract law and reorder capitalism . Let me ask you, did you make your bed this morning?

It would be nice if the Contracts were low base pay with a high incentive pay, but we would never get a decent coach.

Base-1M
8 Games- 500K bonus
10 Games- 2M bonus
12 Games -4M Bonus
CFP appearance- 2M
NCAA champs- 2M

that would be difficult, but the OP has a point. It's nauseating when coaches utterly fail, yet receive massive buyouts.

Orgeron, Pelini, Willie Taggert at FSU all come to mind. Many others, I'm sure.

Almost every contract is based on what you did more than what you’re gonna do.

No one takes an insanely performance based contract

That’s exactly why Coach O got that fat raise, he won a championship.

And the sky should rain tacos and skittles.

But we don't live in that world and never have.

The amount of money raised by the 19 national title will cover O’s buyout 10x over

Coaches pay is determined by what it takes to get a coach of the caliber you are trying to get

It’s kind of like being a weatherman. Your forecast is way off but you still get to keep your job.
