Nah, it's just "luck".

Those good decisions can be multi-generational. So can the bad ones.
Nope. It's all due to racism.

Man, I'm becoming pretty good at being a democrat!

How was that emotional? I’m a homeowner and I make a little over 100K a year. I live in a relatively cheap (for now) city and I have no complaints.

I’ve also clearly traveled more than you have. We have too many people living in poverty and our middle class doesn’t live nearly as well as many European countries and even, frick, some of the developed Asian countries.

Dumbass.

Wealth inequality is yet another Marxist bullshite term being shoved down your throat

Absolutely

And, in Louisiana, being a 1%er means you made 423k. That is so far from "super wealthy" it's humorous.

Marxists use these tactics because liberals like the OP and Powerman are very much effected by terms like 1%er.

It's emotional because there's no substantive reason to say it's a big deal. So, to repeat the question. Why is it a big deal?

LOL How would you even know this?

We have too many people living in poverty
We have virtually zero people living in poverty.

our middle class doesn’t live nearly as well as many European countries and even
What metrics are you using to make this assertion?

ome of the developed Asian countries.
What metric are you using to make this assertion?

“Middle class” Americans are the upper 1% of the world. We have a massive massive entitlement bubble problem.

Hells yes, though not just for the OP's reason.

Heck they need to learn nutrition as well.
Telling kids to save their money instead of blowing it on gaming devices and netflix subscriptions will work about as well as telling them not to have sex, or not to smoke weed.

Kids need lifelong support for character issues like this during their formational years. Social support too.

Getting rid of home economics was clearly a mistake.
Someone has to dismantle the patriarchy!!

You clearly have not traveled very much of the world.

You need to get out of the tourist traps.

Our poverty rate is overstated by 100% and we gave way more economic mobility in the US than those Eurotrash countries. But it doesn’t matter, 1 person is too many right? We have to do better! Do something!

The very rich never pay taxes anyway. They shuffle their money around and use foundations as tax shelters. It's mostly the middle class that pays taxes.

Exactly.

If you are at the American poverty line as defined by our government, you are in the world 84th percentile.

The median household income places you in the top 5% in the world! At least than 150% of the median, you are in the top 2% in the world.

I lived in Kenya, relative to that there is zero poverty in the U.S.

We could do better though

I do think we need to completely change the way we look at the war on poverty though. Too much of the money gets tied up in the administrative levels.

If anyone is in poverty in the United States it is because they have some sort of problem, like drug addiction or extreme laziness. Your "hard working" 40 hour week person with a high school degree lives a pretty good life no where near poverty. Poverty, IMO, is self imposed.

I suppose.

But, before we talk about "better", we should talk about what defines "better"?

This pretty much describes government.........100% of the time

This is the plan. They don’t want a middle class, just the ruling class and the rest of us.

Yay UBI!

another answer to this would be to incentivize pay raises through the corporate tax system..

Xbox live premium used to be ( and I assume it’s still close ) $50 for a yearly subscription. How long do you plan on living for that to put a dent in that gap?
