Well traditionally LSU Drop/Add period ends the 2nd week of class. After that, you can't enroll in a class and get full credit so this is week 3 of class (lost 1 to IDA) so not sure that will fly but I can see where you have a good point as to why the waiver was applied for.

Not stirring the pot, it seems he just wants to squash the rumor that puts the blame on LSU for Emory’s ineligibly instead of himself.

He apparently knows the "truth" but only wants to say what is not true? If anything, that keeps the pot simmering.

Sounds like someone wants us to pay for Platinum TD Status to get the real story.

We're onto you.

"Oh the tangled webs we weave when we first set out to deceive..." The truth is like holding a beach ball under the water, soon or later it WILL pop to the surface. Just gotta wait for it.

Where did the “took the wrong class” thing even start? Was that Hannagriff?

It’s pretty clear to me that Emery did something that is embarrassing/sensitive, and is why everyone is giving the run-around publicly

Like others have mentioned as a possibility, i think cheating of some sort

He cheated in a summer class. There now can we move on?

One team one podcast I think

And let’s be honest. LSU, dating back to Saban, has had a pretty damn good track record of keeping kids academically eligible.

If I had to guess, like Baskerville, he had to take & pass a summer school class to be eligible, and he didn’t.

As far as I can tell, yeah. A lot of people seem convinced that it came from the coaching staff, some even saying it came from Orgeron in a presser. But I haven’t seen a link or actual quote to confirm that.

If the narrative that this all stems from some scheduling frick up is indeed false, I’m not terribly surprised that people are trying to dispel the rumor. You’ve got tons of people screaming for academic advisors to be fired right now.

I also wouldn’t bet on seeing any official statement clarifying what actually happened. From what I understand, academic records (including any findings of academic dishonesty) are considered confidential under federal law.

So if he took the wrong class, the issue is not GPA or number of credits.

The guy is a sophomore majoring in interdisciplinary studies, right? What exactly are "required" classes at this stage? Did he fail to take a required freshman class or remedial class?

Does anyone know, concretely, what the NCAA academic eligibility requirements are?

I've been trying to make this make sense in my mind, and it doesn't. I don't see how taking the wrong class is the issue.

Funny, Nick Saban doesn't coach Rocket Scientists, but none of his key players ever get declared academically ineligible.

Privacy rights of students may unwittingly allow the conspiracy assholes to fill the void by making stuff up.

At this point nothing is verified by anyone. The "took the wrong class" thing doesn't sound credible to me. So long as the student is enrolled in class and passing, it doesn't matter what classes they take toward a major. When I was an undergraduate I worked with the counsellors to create an interdisciplinary major, and I got the degree.

So long as the student is actually enrolled and earning passing grades, you can make a major.

Furthermore, if he had to re-take a specific class but didn't do it, he would have had to know which class he needed to take, because he would have failed it at least once before.

Until we get some confirmation somewhere, we would do well to withhold our outrage.

There is probably truth to both sides.

Emery's issue is probably something that happened last year.

LSU probably tried to get Emery to take some classes during the summer to try and overcome that "issue".

Emery probably completed what LSU set for him during the summer...but it probably wasn't enough to address that issue.
