They could hire 100 people whose job is only to manage communication during emergencies like this and it wouldn't materially affect energy bills.

Wonder what it would have been had that Coca~Cola driver not moved the barricades
Did the driver move the barricade, or was it moved during the night by someone else and they were the first tall vehicle encounter the wires?

I don’t even have Entergy. I’ve just been behind the scenes and know that a customer is most satisfied when the power is back and nearly anything you say gets scrutinized or complained about. So as a company, you focus all your efforts on getting things back as quickly as possible and let that be the message. Paying people the come up with unreliable estimates is a waste of resources.

Pretty sure it was moved by someone else.

Just got power back in Oak Hills.
Now, according to Entergy site, I’m part of the elite 262 customers still without power for this outage location.

ETA2: I passed back on way home. A small PSC truck arrived out there just after I passed. Said they were taking pictures of transformers at corner of Hillview and S/W Lakeview to try to “line it up for tomorrow.” Whatever that means.
Man I’ve really latched on to this. I sure hope he follows through on that.
EDIT: right with you Mike. Same shite as delta last year. Maybe we’ll be the ones to get it back next Wednesday.

Hope not. That was comical we were pretty much the last in the city to be restored.

People aren’t happy with a generic blanket. If someone across town got the same estimate then they know it’s worthless. Had they gotten “we’ve assessed your area and expect __” then people feel like progress is made. Which they gave people the impression that’s what was coming And I say this as someone that now has power and just moved back in
I’m sure they could do that if they assess shite for a week or so…..you want them assessing or fixing shite???

Are they attacking random areas and hoping for the best?
Communications alone have come such a long way, it’s really pretty easy to keep customers up to date even on a mass scale event like this. I could guarantee even if you miss your estimates but keep people relatively updated, they’re much happier than being totally in the dark. The problem is they have 0 incentive to care about customer care because the customers can’t do shite about it.

To say that Entergy doesn't have the information area by area to relay is to say they don't have a plan to efficiently address the outage. They are one in the same. If they know where they need to assign resources and that happens based on expected impact then they know how to communicate that plan.
The communication is horrendous because it can be. There is nothing that is pushing them to do better. As such, they think saying "we're working hard" is enough.
And, it's humorous how wrong you are about it. Not only is it important, you've got people throughout the city figuring out what's going on themselves and together putting pieces of the puzzle together because IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THEM.

FFS, how about they describe what they are fixing, why that is a priority, and what the expected impact is when it is fixed.

Exactly. They are working a specific plan for a specific reason. They fricking know how much of the city is affected by the Coursey substation.

Big big wind gone, now make power stand up again.

What I'd guess is, look at the outage maps, and then look at the streets (in person) at points where there is a big divide between 'on' and 'off'.
I got power back the other day. My neighborhood was out, but the neighborhood and some major buildings/businesses etc nearby were on. Along the border of that area, there were some major tree damage on some lines crossing the boundaries.
I suppose they addressed those, and brought most of my neighborhood up by doing so. Fixing 3 lines probably brought several hundred households back in one fell swoop.
There are small pockets, and those likely will take awhile. But if they can get a big group up fairly quickly, they will do that first.
