Anyone hearing they aren't letting people back into New Orleans? Turning everyone away?

I was able to get in with no issues today around 3:00.

parents live in Galliano. Parents are out of town. Any way I can make it down there tomorrow to survey damage?

My brother lives in Gheens, and as of a few hours ago, they were not letting anyone leave Gheens (road blocked before 308). Seems they may be limiting travel in the parish for the time being.

My Grandfather was from Gheens. Although he moved to Thibodaux he had a farm there his whole adult life.

How much shite can I run with a 6250w generator?

Basically every 110v outlet in your house. Avoid using the 240v stuff (usually the dual pole switches).

ETA: in my experience depending on your water heater (I have a 50 gal) you can turn on the water heater and let it warm water to take a shower. However, you need to turn it back off before using the shower, it’ll turn on both elements if you are using hot water and probably trip the breaker on the generator.

I did a bunch of reading up on them and when not in use, the heater will turn on the bottom or top element until it reaches the specified temp then alternate keeping the water at your appropriate temps

My sister-in-law is from Gheens, and they built a house there after they had kids near where her family still lives.

State Farm did not for us in LC last year, a local agent tried telling higher ups to try living in Louisiana with no AC or water to no avail

Step 1. Doc that you have no AC and H2O
Step 2. Doc that you have medical condition (anything a prescription for, sleep apnea, etc)
Step 3. Apply for Loss of Use
Step 4. If denied, get Dept of Ins involved.
Step 5. Profit.

Any word on MSY opening? Or at least the kind term garage opening? I have a car in there still. Flight back Saturday was canceled and I ended up getting one to Houston and driving to BR from Houston late Saturday.

Not sure if this has been posted as I’ve been in and out of internet since the storm. Now in.

Tulane has evacuated all the kids that stayed for the storm to Houston and they are going their separate ways from there.

Entergy saying 3 weeks to restore power at the latest. Some could see it back on in a day or two.

No unfortunately besides power and water issues. I wonder if you blow through the gates with no cameras operational... Should not have to pay, right?

I received pictures of our home in Cut Off and we were fortunate for the most part. There is moderate roof damage in several places but very little bare wood from what I can determine and no structural damage.

I may have had some water get inside from attic or slab but not certain until I can get there. Only emergency response personnel are being allowed back in if you are not already there.

Almost everything tomorrow is cancelled. Think wednesday afternoon before operations are back up to semi-normal.

You got more faith than I do. At least it doesn't sound like the runways have issues from the storm, but facility wise I'm pretty concerned with MSY. No bathrooms or running water will be the big one to fix
