The mayor must resign over this. Absolutely unacceptable to still not have contingencies in place 16 years after Katrina.

Most of that is on Mitch Landrieu

They’ve got water coming in the house, but not much. Their house is the highest in the subdivision. But that’s like being the tallest midget.

Just when you think they have hit the record low of governmental incompetence

That means it will get worse

Jefferson Parish lost contact with people on Grand Isle

Has there been any update with them? I’m guessing no since they are still getting hammered?

Jefferson Parish President said onTWC they lost radio contact with them 3 to 4 hours ago after they started taking on water.

Eight hours. That’s a long time for a storm to be on land this well developed and still at CAT 3.

I am.sure some dickhead will attribute this to climate change.

Truly a mystery how she has stayed together and this strong for so long.. i’ve never seen anything like it before

LA has gotten a shite ton of rain so far this year, so the ground is incredibly saturated.

If I were a hurricane researcher/scientist, I would look to see if there is a correlation between the amount of water in the ground and the sustained strength of Ida.

It’s pretty bad .. from what I can gather - and it’s super early - think the old subdivision will survive but the westbank took a devastating blow .. i left town but was on the phone with family members who decided to stay - actually praying the rosary at one point … pretty damn sobering

The Mike’s Weather Page/SpaghettiModels.com guy is at a hotel somewhere west of New Orleans (not exactly sure which city). There is a mobile home next door. The roof blew off of it and they realized there are people, including kids, inside of it. They are trying to get them but the wind is too extreme to get over there.
