re: Raise your hand if Amazon didn’t get your gifts delivered in time

Ordered several things December 7 from Amazon. Still not here. December 13, the package was two hours from me and then it was lost until December 21. It is now six hours from me and states Delivery Date Unavailable.
re: Have you ever thought that you may die while riding out a nonterminal illness/virus?
Posted by LakeChuckTigah on 8/11/25 at 9:31 pm to Ben Hur
I was diagnosed with scarlet fever in my early twenties. It’s the only time I’ve been so sick that I thought I was going to die. My fever got super high, like 104 and I had a red rash all over my body, including eyelids and inside my ears. But the worst part was that my throat was on fire. It felt like I was swallowing glass anytime I would swallow. It was so bad that I kept a cup by my bed to spit out my saliva bc it hurt so bad to swallow. It was pretty horrible. And I get kidney stones but the scarlet fever was worse.

One of the LSU buses was in LC Monday taking some kids to a church camp in Texas. The driver said they rent them out during the off-season so they don’t just sit there.

You won’t see a lot of kids’ activities scheduled on Wednesdays in south LA either but that’s bc the public school Catholics have CCD on Wednesday nights. At least in LC.
re: Hyundai Palisade - Opinions from owners?
Posted by LakeChuckTigah on 7/23/25 at 11:07 am to RaginCajunz
I drive a 2022 Hyundai Palisade with the calligraphy trim package. Absolutely love my vehicle. When I was in the market, I looked at several midsize SUVs and decided to go with the Palisade, and I do not regret my decision. Would buy again for sure. In fact, after I bought mine, a co-worker was in the market for a new car and bought a Palisade after driving mine. She was telling me just yesterday how much she loves her car. My best friend bought one too after seeing mine and loves it. Mom has a Grand Highlander that she really likes. I’ve driven it a few times, and I always can’t wait to get back to my Palisade.
re: You know what grinds my gears? Facebook moms "fundraising" for their kids activities

I have a co-worker whose daughter recently made her high school cheer team. A couple weeks later in a group message to several co-workers she sends a link to a donation page to help pay for the stuff she needs for the cheer team. Not competition cheer, not travel ball. I was shocked. I get sending it to grandma but to co-workers?! I’ll happily pay for a catfish dinner or a raffle but just straight up solicitation of money was an easy no for me.

Had this happen in my 20s. There’s a family history of hemorrhoids. Doctor had me do a colonoscopy to be safe. Was hemorrhoids. Glad he made me check though just for peace of mind.

The front = the living room
Ex. Someone calls asking for your mom and you say, “she’s in the front, let me go get her:”
I still catch myself saying this. I assume it comes from the shotgun houses where the living room was in the front of the house. My great grandparents lived in a shotgun but we used it regardless of the style of the house or whether the living room is in the front of the house.

Matilda’s Faberge Egg collection is on loan to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Has been on exhibit there for years.

It’s still coming down hard in Lake Charles. Our footprints are completely covered from when we went outside thirty minutes. This is crazy!

I’m no weather expert but I can say the snow turned fluffy in Lake Charles about 30 minutes ago.
re: Name the ONE PREMIUM feature on a car you can't live without...
Posted by LakeChuckTigah on 1/7/25 at 7:17 pm to North Dallas Tiger
I bought a new car last year for the first time in 10 years so it had a lot of available features that my old car didn’t. My favorite feature, the one I miss the most when driving a rental, is the turn signal camera.
re: Catholic baws: what are your favorite hymns, Christmas or otherwise?

On Eagles Wings is a classic that I love from when I was a kid.
My kids’ Catholic school sings the Anima Christi towards the end of every school Mass, and I tear up every time I hear it. Very powerful song.

re: New Homeowners policies in Louisiana. LC area.
Posted by LakeChuckTigah on 7/16/24 at 4:52 pm to thejudge
I’m in LC and looking around right now for insurance. My Liberty Mutual policy renewed in June and it was actually my auto that nearly doubled. No accidents, tickets, nothing. Spoke with a guy at the Firm. He said LM is doing that bc they are trying to get out of Louisiana. Anyway, he gave me some quotes for Homeowners and auto, and Sage Sure was the best one.
re: Need advice on which 3rd row SUV to get
Posted by LakeChuckTigah on 5/21/24 at 8:35 am to Bonkers119
First, I agree with the people on here saying to get a minivan. Especially for when your kids are little. I got an Odyssey when I had my second, even though I said I would never own a minivan, and I’m glad I did. It was a great vehicle, and the sliding doors are super convenient for when you are loaded down with diaper bags and kids. Had the odyssey for ten years.
Second, after the minivan I bought the Palisade. I absolutely love it. Have had it for two years. Love the third row now that the kids are older and I’m carpooling or they have friends over, etc. I have the Calligraphy model which comes with second row captain’s seats standard. There is plenty of room for everyone. When I don’t have other kids in the car, I keep the third row down and there’s lots of space for all the chairs, backpacks, and stuff we need nowadays. I would recommend.
