I think it makes sense. If you tell people to get out now, there will be way too many ok the road 24hrs from now.

Mayor said there will be no mandatory evac for New Orleans. Not because they don’t want to, but it’s too late to do it with contraflow.

That is ridiculous. They could have it up by morning and have a full 24 hours before the weather gets here. What does “too late even mean”?

be aware the gas situation is dwindling fast.

This is a huge concern all over south La. It's a mess getting this much gas delivered in normal times, but it still seems that they are struggling with enough truck drivers now.

The way I view it is what would suck worse, staying in a hotel for a couple nights and coming back to everything being okay or staying and shite hitting the fan.

Give me the Marriott 10/10 times

Yes that’s what Nic just said on TWC. Due to the number of people living in campers and the number of people still with tarps on their roofs.

If it was just me in NOLA I would probably be leaning to staying. But I have kids and pregnant wife. Can’t have wife go into labor during a storm and have to get to a hospital without ready childcare available. Will see what 10:00 update is but the city is almost certainly going to be out of power for 3-7 days in the best case scenario and that will be miserable.

I was in Venice earlier today evacuating. We got word at work the flood wall in Belle Chasse was closing at 3pm. I got through there earlier than that so not sure if they really closed it that early.

Was a lot of people hauling their boats out of there.

Heavy rain and flooding impacts from Ida will likely be felt not only along the Gulf Coast, but further north and east into the Tennessee Valley, the southern Appalachians, and even the Mid-Atlantic next week.
