This is retarded. You don’t want them having free reign if they flood and can just get out.

Don’t they need like 48 hours to get everyone out or something?

I was in Venice earlier today evacuating. We got word at work the flood wall in Belle Chasse was closing at 3pm. I got through there earlier than that so not sure if they really closed it that early.

Was a lot of people hauling their boats out of there.

Thank you for the info, was traffic gridlocked?

Not when I passed through Belle Chasse at 1:30. Little traffic in Belle Chasse but nothing too out of the norm there.

Mayor said there will be no mandatory evac for New Orleans. Not because they don’t want to, but it’s too late to do it with contraflow.

If true, that's irresponsible as hell. People will hear that and try to bail, but there isn't any contraflow in place and it will make traffic an even bigger nightmare.

Sounds about right for her.

At this point how possible is it for the cone to shift? Everyone seems pretty sure they know where it’s going to land but it hasn’t crossed Cuba yet.

So y’all get mad when they do order a mandatory evac, then bitch when they don’t?

Bottom line do what you need to do.

St Bernard said the same. They wanted to order a mandatory evacuation, but doing so requires resources they dont have.

The mayor isn't lying, she really doesn't have the time to figure out what contraflow means, much less implement it..

If anyone needs a traffic update it's about 10mph on I10 through Kenner until 10/310 split then full speed 60 and I55 wide open.

For once, I think she was right. Issuing a mandatory evac so quickly creates even more panic and the roads would be incredibly dangerous
