Huge screen for WM to try and tie the game with 2min left in 4th.
The scariest part of CJD is the most common type is sporadic. Which does not come from the hereditary component or ingestion of a malformed protein, but arises spontaneously from a misfolded protein. There's a small handful of cases diagnosed every year even in Louisiana. The incidence rate is roughly 1 in 1 million.
I got a rescue that they say is a giant schnauzer/poodle mix. The breed "schnoodle" I guess. So far over last 6 months he's been best dog I've ever had. Dosent shed much, super loyal and friendly, and smart. Good for city living he's 2.5yrs old. Can get by energy wise with two 0.5 to 0.75mile walks a day, or just playing in the yard.
Lots of rain and its gusting a good bit. Power flicked 1 time, still holding strong otherwise.
Getting gusty now in Metairie off Clearview. No flickering of power yet, but radar makes it seem like 2hrs at least to go of this. Will see if can hold on.
We talking power outtages similar to what New Orleans saw with Zeta?
So if I'd need to make a claim for a new roof they wouldn't cover it all? Just the cost of roof now that it is 2yrs old?
I'm with Allied Trust I think subsidiary of USAA but they didn't offer me a discount for the inspection as far as I know.

The Wind inspector mentioned Citizens offered biggest discount. It was started after Katrina to lower premiums.
I did. They go around check see if you have shutters, see how many doublr/french doors you have, and go in attic to make sure the nails are the proper depth/space apart on roof. It cost me 200$ would have saved me 210p$ if I cut stuck with citizens. Ended up going with another private company that was 1500$ cheaper than Citizens with Wind Inspection. My private company does not offer discount for wind inspection. If you have to go with Citizens I find it worth it.
Is there more coming 5/17? Or mostly past the New Orleans area. Last night around midnight the Clearview/Trancontinental area got what felt like Tropical storm conditions. Power out until about 7a.

re: Car died while driving issue

Your battery is used to start the car. If the car is running and died it is usually not the battery as the battery does not keep the car running. Alternator, running out of gas, or a fuel injector issue would be more likely culprits. When you try and jump the car back on if the AC coming out does not get cold then likely alternator, as it is needed to run AC compressor.
I have heard the rumor is at 3pm tomorrow JBE will have the press conference where he addresses this specifically.
Appreciate the advice everyone. I put a new roof on the house soon as I bought in May. As long as I can find something under 10,000 a year I can get by maybe not comfortably but can do it. I have a couple brokers I'll check with too
I'm with state farm as well through Dover Bay. I'm paying 6.5k a year now. Trying plan for next year and expecting 2K a year increase minimum, I guess. Unless I get dropped.

Appreciate it, helps ease my fears. I had heard quotes of like 15k a year for homeowner. Which is over double what I pay now. If all the quotes that high I'd be unable to afford my house.

Homeowner's Insurance in Metairie

Posted by Coatesbathroom on 10/26/22 at 11:59 pm
I have homeowner insurance through May of 2023. I got my initial policy in May of 2022. I have heard horror stories of all companies refusing to renew or write new policies south of I10. I live on the East Bank of Jeff Parish. I was hoping for a list of companies still writing policies besides Citizens. I know most major ones are gone and UPC pulling out as well.
Now that's gonna make me call my State Farm Agent and bitch them out and find out what extra liability I'm under if Dover just folds up.
I have Dover Bay through State Farm. It's more expensive every month than some of the others, but I had same idea as you. If State Farm goes under we all screwed and no one can live here anyway.

I'm in Jeff Parish close to lake*
I'm a young professional who is buying a house in Metairie. Will be about 25% of my take home pay in mortgage/flood/homeowner insurance. All it took was 6 years living in a tiny apt, keeping my A/C at 78 degrees year round. Taking no trips or vacations and saving up to put enough down to keep my monthly payments low. I have eaten more tuna and Ramen then I care to think about. I would likely never be able to afford Uptown, Old Metairie, or Lakeview. Nor would I want to live in Orleans Parish. There are probably people who can do that for a while plus have 2 incomes which allows them to afford Lakeview.
Anyone know how i55 south is into New Orleans. Making the trip back today from Monroe for work tomorrow. According to the DOT website it looks open while only 55 N is closed.
