Anyone with a 17HMR?

I have a couple of 22lr pistols and a couple of rifles.
Now thinking 17hmr? I like that it shoots crazy tight groups. 2500fps and shoots very flat.

It’s not some ballistic defying round that shoots tight groups. It’s like any other round. Some guns shoot it well others don’t.

I like .22mag better, but .17hmr is fun. Ammo is hard to find for either one right now.

I love my Marlin. It is louder than than I expected with zero recoil so it a great gun to practice with.

I can and have killed squirrels DRT beyond 100 yds with a 17hmr bolt action. It didn't take me a box of ammo to realize the little 2-7x rimfire scope I bought with my first HMR wasn't enough scope for the little guns potential. IMO it's the way the ammo is made that gives the 17hmr the advantage over a 22 in accuracy.

an amazing round. My Marlin bolt will stack them on top of each other at 150 yards. We shoot and hit a 4" plate at 300 yards with ours. Fun round. Deadly to critters. Not a round to use if you want to save the meat. Blows up squirrels like they ate a M80.

I have one and shoot the shite out of snakes in my pond with it. My pond is 2 acres and I can cover one bank to the other with it.

Great shooting round, can be very accurate, I just never found a need for the round but anytime I had a used one come through I would take it out for "testing".

I have a CZ 457 in 17hmr. Loves the Hornady rounds

I sold mine when it dawned on me that I could shoot a .223 cheaper.

I bought one just because ammo was widely available for it at all my LGS prior to the pandemic. I have no practical use for it though. I'm not going to shoot a squirrel at 100 yards, and prefer my 5.56 for larger nuisance game at that distance. It is super accurate though as long as there's no wind.

It is a sweet round and you will find that probably the round is more accurate than the shooter. Nickle sized groups at 100 yards are common and for the squirrel shooter, there is no reason not to aim for the head.
Good one for the young or inexperienced shooter to learn on. Expensive, but no recoil to start a flinch, lots of sound, and supreme accuracy.
Love popping starlings in the top of the cottonwoods. Even at long range they fragment very thoroughly when taken from behind.

I went with the 17WSM.. like it. But normally take 22 mag instead.

Are you going to be hunting with it? It's a fun gun to shoot no doubt but a .22 wmr is more practical if you're wanting to tote it in the woods

I bought the mach II. I just didn't see the point of anything made from the mag casing. Love it.

I don't know anybody who owns the mach2. Matter of fact, my local gun shop has had the same 3 boxes of Hornady .17 mach 2 ammo sitting on the shelf forever. What is the MV? I'm guessing about 1800 FPS?

I have 2 of them. My favorite shooting rifle. I put the 17 HMR scope on both and they don’t miss. Super fun gun to shoot and will bunch them up super tight.

My Savage 93 .17HMR the top of my favorite rimfires to shoot.
I find it is SUPER CONSISTENT with Hornady V-max (Labeled Varmint Express).
(ammo is hit or miss to locate at times, but not too many people shoot it)
Looks like this stock pic (unlike this one the folding bipod I added to mine is actually too long and the feet extend into the muzzle blast area when folded up)
