Money talks.

Arkansas and Texas A&M have two of the deepest pockets in the conference, and they have expressed their lack of enthusiasm for the potential move.

Arkansas, through the Jerry Jones connection, approaches Missouri. Three Arkansas home games over the next 10 years are offered to be played at Jerry World. The gate is split, the gate is 60% Missouri, whatever it takes to buy the vote of no.

Texas A&M pulls the exact same move with Ole Miss, through the connection of Bjork being the former Ole Miss AD. The Aggies offer three home games over the next 10 years to be played at NRG stadium in Houston. The Aggies offer whatever gate deal is needed to secure a vote of no.

The vote of no is more important to Arkansas and TAMU than the money.

I don't see any way that the conference could stop side deals like this from happening.

Can Missouri and Ole Miss be bought? I don't know, but I would expect the effort to be made to find out.

So in your scenario, Arkansas has more money and influence than Bama, UGA, Auburn, Tenn, Florida?

Gotcha

Did I use the word power?

They only have to buy one vote each

That’s quite a creative scenario you’ve dreamed up. Realistic? Hell no. Extreme overreach. Not even practical.

Why do you think they have money?

It’s makes too much financial sense to bring Texas and Oklahoma in.

You think they’ll let their emotions in a game get in the way of their pocket books?

Arkansas and Texas A&M have a strategic advantage over Texas and Oklahoma right now because they are in the Southeastern Conference.

Are the financial gains worth the additional competitive challenges? The point in my hypothetical is a process to retain status quo for those two schools. I also think that Missouri would be relatively easy to convince considering the immediate increase in difficulty of competition and resources.

A&M is the only team in the conference who would at all be against this happening, because they want to be the only team in their state in the SEC, and I would hope that even they are smart enough to do what is best for the conference. And adding OU and UT to the league is what's best for the conference. If they go elsewhere, we will take a step back from whatever conference they go to. We have been a pioneer in football since we added Arkansas & South Carolina and made a conference championship game. I hope we continue to be the pioneer to the changes that are coming to college football in the next 10 years.

If it was just about money, they would have leveraged the Big 12 to get more money from them. This seems to be more than just money. SEC and Texas want progression. And Texas isn’t happy with the Big 12. Who would be.

This

No one at A&M knew about the negotiations to bring Texas into the SEC until the story broke on the Internet.

A&M are fortunate to be in the SEC and they know it.

I don't have a problem with Oklahoma joining the conference, I DO have a MAJOR problem with Texas! You think the antics of the Red Elephant Club with the Birmingham folks are something, just wait until we have to deal with the arrogance and stupidity of Texas. Texas is a cancer, they've already destroyed one conference and on the way to destroy a second...let Texas go to the PAC 12 where they can bask in football irrelevance combined with liberal superiority/stupidity!!!

Come on. This did not happen over night. The SEC, TX & OK have been at the table for a year. Da key already has t(e needed votes. The process may not happen overnight, but it is a done deal imo.

Certainly more than Bama, Auburn, and Tennessee. There are some very wealthy people and some very large businesses in Arkansas.
