I'm no fan of a&m but they certainly have the most money in the conference. just a question of if they're willing to invest it that way.

Very deep. They have some of the deepest pockets in the conference.

How has that helped them since joining the conference?

Being located in the same metro area as Walmart hasn't made them the powerbroker for the SEC, hasn't significantly increased there academic standing and hasn't contributed to overwhelming success in their Athletic Dept.

If everything was based on proximity to wealthy donors, Arkansas would be/would have been more influential to date.

I don't know anything about AR and A & M's money, but there are 3 - 4 SEC schools that will vote strictly on what makes them the most money with no regard to the competitive balance of the league. I don't know the lengths AR and A & M will go to get 2 other teams to vote against it, but it could happen if they make a good enough deal to those schools to vote no.

This scenario might plausible because what I've heard is Texas is one of the main reasons Texas A&M and Missouri left the Big 12 in the first place. And from what I keep hearing is Texas is a very shitty partner. And the SEC could benefit from having the state of Oklahoma but Texas needs the SEC more than the SEC needing Texas because A&M is already a member.

I think Sankey wants this. If he wants it, it will happen. There are probably ways he can make the lives of those who don't follow miserable and of there are ever rounds of expansion in the future (20 teams) he may keep the no votes in mind and replace them if possible.

Just a question, what markets does Texas or Oklahoma bring in that the SEC does not already have access too? TAMU brings the SEC Houston and Dallas for sure but I've been in San Antonio where there is a heavy TAMU presence. So Austin maybe and possibly OKC?

Money talks.

Arkansas and Texas A&M have two of the deepest pockets in the conference, and they have expressed their lack of enthusiasm for the potential move.

Arkansas, through the Jerry Jones connection, approaches Missouri. Three Arkansas home games over the next 10 years are offered to be played at Jerry World. The gate is split, the gate is 60% Missouri, whatever it takes to buy the vote of no.

Texas A&M pulls the exact same move with Ole Miss, through the connection of Bjork being the former Ole Miss AD. The Aggies offer three home games over the next 10 years to be played at NRG stadium in Houston. The Aggies offer whatever gate deal is needed to secure a vote of no.

The vote of no is more important to Arkansas and TAMU than the money.

I don't see any way that the conference could stop side deals like this from happening.

Can Missouri and Ole Miss be bought? I don't know, but I would expect the effort to be made to find out.

Yeah, creative, but nonsense

The vote will be 14-0 if it ever takes place

LSU has had to make enough concessions for money reasons over the years, and we bitch about it, but it changes nothing

The administrations will tell their constituents what they want to hear about the big bad SEC offices, but privately they will distribute the monies with a smile.

Texas has deeper pockets than all of them. OU has deep pockets.

My sister is a Texas grad. I straight up told her that they will not get along well with Bama because they’re cut from the same cloth. So, I’m not worried about UT breaking up the conference. They’ll be too busy having pissing matches with Bama.

I do like the idea of the 4 team pods and getting home and homes with each school every two years. It’s better than the rotation we have now and will be harder for Bama to manipulate.

Weak leadership has destroyed the Big 12.

Ok adds to the footprint. Just adding TX let's you charge more for the SEC Network because of the Longhorn Network fees will now be added in. Now consider the matchups you create. There are very few Big12 games that garner out of region interest. Now matchup TX and OK with all the SEC big boys. The property itself increases in value.

This is such a no brainer and it doesn't even include the downsides of not doing it which is more than the opportunities lost. TX and OK are going to leave one way or the other. The Big12 isn't a long term viable competitor to the other big leagues. Joining the ACC/B1G would instantly mean that the SEC is no longer the dominate conference, and would limit our options.

Yes, I share some similar thoughts

Watching Bama fans have to concede anything will be a move in the right direction for me

In all honesty, if I were Michigan I'd consider starting the convo.

Any team (up North) would have a HUGE advantage joining the SEC.

The numbers floating around are an extra $10+ mil per year for each school if UT and OU join.

That's interesting. Where did you hear that? I'm not doubting you, necessarily, but genuinely curious. I have been wondering about this. I wasn't sure how much of an increase it would be because we will only be gaining 1 new market. But I knew the SEC would still want to make this happen anyway because of the other positive factors that don't directly involve money.

Yes, Ark has people with money and I'm sure they'll give some, but to think that they will contribute to something that would really piss off a big portion of their customers is just not going to happen.
