they probably all used HEK293 cells for validation but Moderna and Pfizer did not use them in production

Depending on where you draw the bright line there is a huge amount of therapeutics and vaccines that have some involvement with cell lines the church would likely deem problematic. It is unlikely that any COVID vaccines are or will be "Catholic kosher" if you dig deep enough.

The HEK 293 cell line has been around since the early 70s and involved in a huge amount of medical research.

Church would rather see people die, and society not return to normal, because already-aborted stem cells are used. "

What's confusing about this decision is Pfizer and Moderna used fetus cell lining too in development

Connection to abortion is "remote" enough

Some context for those who are interested in it. Of course if you ask any church members they probably think that these companies are out there encouraging hundreds of abortions per day, today, when in reality they've been replicated from a couple abortion almost 40-50 years ago.

quote:

When it comes to the COVID-19 vaccines, at least five candidates undergoing clinical trials use fetal-derived cell lines: from China's CanSino Biologics, the University of Oxford partnered with AstraZeneca, Janssen (a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson), the University of Pittsburgh and California-based ImmunityBio.

HEK-293, used by four of the developers, is a kidney cell line derived from a fetus aborted in 1972. PER.C6 is a proprietary cell line owned by Janssen that was created from eye cells from an 18-week-old fetus aborted in 1985, according to Science.

Nice troll job.
The Church- and all people with any kind of regard for human life- would prefer to not see people murdered and their organs harvested to create a vaccine for a disease with a minimal chance of causing death. Abortions kill 40,000,000 people worldwide annually and nearly a million Americans annually. A big jump up from COVIDs rookie numbers

ETA: Also, can I get a fact check on that 40,000,000 abortions per year claim?

I believe that's called an inconvenient truth. You're supposed to ignore those.

Maybe the Catholic church should make a statement condemning abortion before an election.

The fake *President* is a pro choice Catholic.

I didnt know such a thing existed.

What seems clear? I asked a pretty straight forward question. Are you unable/unwilling to answer?

So it’s OK to rape and molest children (as long as you are in the clergy) but don’t get a vaccine from a company it that did some stem cell research?

Makes sense.

Nope. Doesn’t make sense and the HUMANS who perform those heinous crimes will have the most severe consequences to suffer for them. Unfortunately the Church is a reflection of society since it is made up of people and not of gods. The devil unfortunately is successful in breaking the will of humans even those in the Church, but when they are caught they should be severely punished.
But you already knew that. Congrats on being cool

How dare the Catholic church preach to its members.

You are a retard.

WHO Abortion Stats

I was wrong. The numbers are now 56mm per year
Look I get it’s cool to bag on Catholics and even cooler to not care about faith. I just pray you don’t ignore the Truth

It doesn’t exist. There are a lot of people who claim all kinds of stuff but it doesn’t make it true.
Unfortunately the Church has been infiltrated by some bad dudes. This is why it is so important that we keep the foundation of the Church at home and centered in Truth

The Church's stance seems clear... more important to let adults die than use a 40 year old stem cell from an aborted baby.

I don't need to twist anything... it seems pretty clear to me.

And these options also used cell lines that originated from aborted fetuses.

You realize the Church is morally compromised, right?

Jesus isn't, God isn't, the Holy Spirit isn't. But Church leaders sure are.

But hey, I'm glad Aymond took time out from hiding in "bankruptcy" to address this.

There are other options out there and they are more effective.
