Didn't football pay upwards of $50m for this years roster? You think Logan didn't cost LSU Baseball a dime?
Yeah but none of those players have actually played “Pro” ball. Half of LSU’s basketball team has.
The music sounds louder on the video. The players can hear the coach yelling instructions to them just fine. Otherwise, they would stop it.

To answer, we'd be 2-2 coming out of September. This board would explode. Then, we'd go 7-1 with 4 road SEC wins including Auburn and Tennessee plus a win over Alabama. I'd be very pleased with this by the time we're in December. We'd have maybe a 30-40% chance of making the playoffs with this record
Thank you! This is exactly what I was asking for. Those are very close to my thoughts as well
I think this team will be good. I just think it will need a little time to get there. Every team takes time to gel. Teams that have lots of newcomers can take a bit longer. I think this team will be playing its best in November (barring injury). Whether or not it’s lost 2-3 games by then will determine the chances of a playoff run.
The real point was the 9-3. Do you think we get in with a 9-3 record? But if I posted that, then people would say it depends who we lose to. So I picked 3 teams that would be difficult. It could be Bama, Tenn, and Clemson. Just pick 3 and see what you think.
It’s a hypothetical, not a prediction. Why can’t people just answer the question?
Do we make the playoffs with this record? If not, how disappointed would you be?

Edited to add: This is a hypothetical, not a prediction. The question afterward was the more important point. Does LSU get in the playoffs with a 9-3 record if we lose our toughest games? And, how disappointed would you be in a 9-3 record with no playoff?

2 first round picks on the D-Line that allows you to drop 7 or 8 really helps.
This is what elite teams have every year. Ohio st, Georgia, Alabama, Texas all have elite defensive line talent. LSU had elite talent during our 2000s run. We really haven't had that talent consistently since then.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but one of the most important things in stopping a mobile QB is a strong D-line
This x 1000!!! Did you see how Miami handled Texas A&M last year? They sent 4 great rushers and played zone behind it. As long as the D line does its job, the QB has nowhere to go and has to turn into a pocket passer. The problem LSU has had is that they have had to blitz to get pressure and therefore play a lot of man behind it. This is a recipe for disaster against a mobile QB.

we did have the worst offensive coordinator in the league.
We also had a hurt QB and the worst offensive line in school history. I’m not saying Sloan didn’t have some issues, but I’m not sure who would be good under those circumstances.
The death of college football is going to be when this generation of 50-80 year olds pass and the younger generation is left to hold the bucket. The most passionate CFB fans I know are older guys. The younger people just don’t love it like we do, and when we go, so does our money.

And before you scream injury, it doesn't take 9 months to heal a torso injury,
Are you sure about that? What about if you constantly reinjure it every week behind one of the worst offensive lines in program history? Does that make it take longer? Some of you…
I gotta think Guntersville would be a great option. I don’t know any guides there but I can’t imagine a good one would be hard to find.

re: Can we talk about Chris Blair?

I think LSU in general has gone SOOO overboard with all the advertisements, it’s hard for the announcer to stay in the emotion of the game bc he’s got to worry about the 85 different ad reads he’s got to do everyone there’s a strikeout or a foul ball or a walk or a home run. It’s ridiculous and would be nearly impossible for anyone in to keep track of. And Blair is a professional so he absolutely will get them all in and all correct, which actually makes the broadcast worse. I’m not saying he’s not a little dry, but there are other factors at work too.

re: Why is ESPN / SECN such crap?

Watching on ROKU is a much better experience. As someone said above, the Apps built into the Smart TVs are crap. Use an external streaming device.
The timing of the firing is not as important as in football. LSU needed a coach in place before signing day so that they could recruit (and raise money for recruiting) before the December signing day. This time crunch is not present for Men’s basketball. It’s going to happen at the end of the year. Be patient.

Most well coached college team I’ve seen. Not the best, but the most well coached.
This is how. You’ve got smart players that are well coached and they know how to block a kick without roughing. Even if the guy misses the punt last night, he doesn’t even come close to roughing. LSU doesn’t typically have those type players.
Make NIL money for the regular season only. Then, players get paid for postseason games separately, just like the pros.
Not saying that Bama didn’t pay players, but they didn’t pay much more than other teams did. Saban was a PHENOMENAL recruiter and sold players on developing them for the league where they would get paid the really big contracts. He did it better than everyone else which was why he had so much success. To say he was only good bc of player payment is delusional. He was successful everywhere he went. NIL just leveled the playing field. Players are much more influenced by how much they get paid, not how much they develop. So Saban lost his major recruiting advantage.
Joseph seemed a little younger than the Biblical version in the trailer.

I'm not convinced he's eager to go through the hell of the last week again anytime soon
I’m not convinced he won’t either. He seems like someone who maxes out his current job and then is looking for the next rush. I’m fine with it as long as he wins big and sets us up for the future. (But I’m convinced it will happen at some point).
