My wife wanted a Peloton. I put her bike(that she hasn't ridden in 3 or 4 years) on a $75 indoor trainer stand I have. She was not impressed. "But they have payment plans!!!"

I've tried this with my wife

"Why don't I buy you a road bike, put it on a trainer, and you can use the iPad as the screen? this way you can ride inside and outside! You can go on bike rides with me and the girls"

"ugh! you're so cheap"

why do you need an instructor to ride a stationary bike?

Save your money and get a gym membership. White women only want that so they can tell their friends they have one while they continue to get fat and don't use it. Its been a brilliant scam

and a REAL road bike

I have a real road bike. I hit the gyms Peloton when the weather is shite or I just feel like jumping on a stationary and riding without much thought.

This is just not correct. Yeah there are obvious differences in stationary bikes versus real bike riding, but on a Peloton you can increase your resistance to a point where it's like you're riding uphill then entire ride. I ride on 55+ resistance for 30 minutes and want to pass out. Try replicating hill climbing for 30 straight minutes in Louisiana.

I did it as a joke. I told my wife that she works and makes money. If she wants to spend it on an overpriced stationary bike, go ahead, but don't seek out my approval on the purchase. I buy things all the time she doesn't approve of, though never anything that expensive.

And honestly, if she did buy one I'd probably end up using it more than she would. But I'd also be fine with a cheaper knock off.

From past experience, whatever you buy will end up being a nice clothes rack

We've got several kids and she is at home with them. Hard for her to get to the gym, but we do have a YMCA membership through my work which is free. I see her point.

She is the opposite of lazy, she used to be a workout machine, but the kids don't really give her the time to get to the gym, especially with my work hours.

Just get the peloton. I was really against it but my wife ended just buying one. I use it a good bit and she uses it every day.

I miss going to the gym but I don’t see us getting a membership anytime soon. It is really nice to hop on it and knock out a workout.

The weights classes are good too. My wife loves the yoga

which is why I'm not completely against it

well, yeah, i'm not paying $10 for coffee.

But, if you need an instructor to help you ride a bike that don't move, don't call me clueless.

Don’t forget all the other class content available from Peloton. You can do yoga classes, stretch classes, Pilates, strength training with weights, boot camp classes, etc.

All part of the monthly fee you pay. Which is per bike. So everyone in that household can have access to their own profile on the bike and get access to all the content on the peloton app as well(for off the bike...ex if you travel you can use the app for workouts).

I’m loving the newer Peloton cause I can just swivel the screen around and do other classes off the bike and still easily see the screen.

For me...it was worth the money cause I actually will use it.

I started using our Peloton seriously about the middle of January this year. I've dropped twenty pounds so far. Today's an easy day, I'm doing Jess King's 30 minute Miley Cyrus ride because boobs. See you in a bit.

I would love one of these one day to add to my bike collection. They're expensive though.

I used to ride 2k - 4k per year and if you want my real advice, get a less expensive trainer (Schwinn/echelon/bowflex) and a REAL road bike for equal or less than what you'd pay for a peloton and the subscription. There is a significantly different level of fitness you get from a REAL road bike vs a trainer. It's called wind resistance and it's a killer.

Virtually no woman (or man) considering a Peloton is going to want to ride a road bike + trainer setup once their mind is set on Peloton. The classes aren't going to "feel" the same, the fit is going to be different, they're probably never going to use the road bike for it's intended outdoor purpose anyway. Not to mention you'd have to buy a smart trainer to get your power metrics on the screen anyway, which they're absolutely going to want because "the Peloton does it." If that's what they want, they're going to end up wanting the Peloton anyway.

And this is coming from someone with a setup meant for riding on Zwift 10+ hours a week.

I did my 400th ride last night with Cody on a live ride.

Hoping for a shoutout...which I didn’t get. But there were 10k other riders on that live ride so what can you expect
