I tried cbd and it didn't work for me. At first I tried some that had b12 in it and I didn't realize it. Then, I even tried some expensive pure cbd oil and while it relaxed me like weed would do, it didn't make me sleepy.

for me, it's not a quick fall asleep type of thing once i take the gel pill. it takes about an hour for me to feel sleepy. it also helps keep me asleep. i try to take it on an empty stomach by 9 p.m every night.

I would like to see that research.

There seems to be no real study on long term use, so I could take it, sleep better, then I would revert to my old sleeping patterns when off it. Didn't seem worth it to me when my trouble isn't falling asleep, it's waking up after 4-5 hours of asleep and then again 1-2 hours later.

Not every night, but if I am having trouble getting my mind to relax and get to sleep, absolutely.

My older kids don't take it much. But many times my youngest will come ask for one a couple hours after bed time as he has trouble falling asleep.

The first study you provided studied 10 people with a sleep disorder. In the study itself it says

quote:

The results of many reports and clinical trials on melatonin suggest that it has a hypnotic or sleep-promoting effect. However, most studies to date8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 have been done with healthy adults

Your second study

quote:

Melatonin publicity as a drug for reestablishment of normal sleep patterns, has been validated in a variety of sleep disorders since long ago.[17,18] Preliminary studies have also suggested that exogenous melatonin may improve sleep quality and alertness in night-shift workers.[19,20] A recent review concluded that, there is an adequate evidence in the medical literature to support the contention that “melatonin has a hypnotic effect in humans”.[21]

And

quote:

Thus, in this study we decided to use subjective self-report data

Bad study

Didn’t read. Crock of shite. The only studies needed are those youve experienced.

A friend of mine took it, it did nothing. It knocks his wife and kid out cold.

I last maybe 20min after taking 3-6mg.

Your studies are bullshite.

I take 5mg every now and then. 30 minutes later I’m out.
It doesn’t work nearly as well for my wife though.

I was asked for links so I provided them.

I take it sometimes. It doesn't put you to sleep like a drug would -- it just is supposed to promote sleep and relax you more like natural melatonin in your body would. Because of that, you're supposed to take it 2+ hours before you go to bed.

Sometimes it works great for me, sometimes I notice no difference.

If I actually need to be put down at an early time (like the first night after a long weekend where I've stayed up late and had alcohol at night the past few days), I take Benadryl.

Tried it a few times and it didn't do anything for me. Trazadone worked for a while and I kept having to up my dose until it started dropping my BP to levels where I would lose consciousness if I had to get up and pee or something.

But I've been sleeping better the older I get.

No kidding. Try waking up earlier and actually doing something during the day. You’ll be surprised how well you sleep.

If that fails, drink a glass of wine.

That's way too early. It's out of your system in less than an hour.

It's not so much putting me to sleep, as it is keeping me asleep that I have noticed when taking it. When I don't take it and I get up to piss, it takes me forever to fall back to sleep.
