2 places in town already selling- $9.99 & $8.95/lb. As much as I love crawfish, if I'm going to spend $50 on my meal, it's not going to be on crawfish

I was looking for live crawfish at the end of last week. I know it's early, but it's likely the only time I'll be in LA this season.
Heads and Tails had them and were charging almost $7/lb. frick that.

Just talked to a long time farmer. No one is ordering and will have lots of crawfish. He said this will be the cheapest of my lifetime
surely this will drive the price of crawfish up. cost to dispose of excess crawfish are considerable.

With all the restaurants closed there is low demand for oysters too and their prices haven’t dropped at all.

I feel like people who are tired of restrictions and not being able to do shite will start having large size rovtar gatherings and cooks in the spring. Demand will increase

When I was in my teens, live December crawfish were $0.80 to $1.00 per pound. 3 pound order an Richards Patio in Abbeville was $6.
By April, live crawfish were less than $0.30 per pound and by the end of April, you weren't buying any because the farmers weren't fishing anymore.

I just don't get this, it takes 5lbs just feel a little full, that's $50, you could buy the best steak around for less than that. I have never ate a crawfish that was good as a ribeye steak grilled right.

Oyster prices dropped. Last year I paid $85.00 a gallon. This year they are $70.00.

No guarantee contracts from restaurants. Not sure if you’ll see cheaper crawfish , but you will def see more select crawfish available.

Almost as much as bookies. I use to know several bookies back in the 70's-90's and every one of them would bitch about how they were getting hammered every week-----but they still made book, most drove Cadillacs or Lincolns, had the Mr. T starter set around their necks and a roll of cash big enough to choke a horse in their pockets.

Obviously you don't know the crawfish industry.
Yep. When they get cheap, people buy. When people buy, the price starts climbing.

Yea, that's what farmers say every year. No one is ordering, prices are so low that they are losing money, or fields aren't producing. Crawfish farmers like to complain.
Unless you are buying from the farmer, they don't set their own prices.
But, yet again, we will have a shite ton of threads with idiots blaming the farmer who know nothing about the crawfish industry, or farming in general.

I seem to remember last season starting earlier. I already had one facebook "memory" pop up earlier this month from when I got some last year from a lil drive thru seafood boil place on 190 in Covington and they were about $5/lb. I've already said "where the hell are the crawfish" to myself a few times in the last couple weeks. I've not seen any of the Northshore area places I pass frequently advertising that they have crawfish yet.
Edit to add: Just checked the Crawfish App. That same drivethru place I mentioned above does show to have crawfish right now... $6.99/lb
