Ladies & Gentlemen, presenting Mr & Mrs Wee R. Dead
Like Sammy Davis told Liberace when they met in Purgatory, “Libby baby, one way or another, those butts will get us all in the end!”

I try not to be all "things were better back in my day."
However, a lot of things really were. My daughter was asking me earlier today where toys come from. I was just thinking that she'll never have the joy of going in a place like kaybee toys, or toys r us.

IMO it’s too bad things aren’t that way today......

I was born in the early-mid 90s. My memories of the Houma mall being like this are so faded they barely seem real. I always felt I was born just in time enough to be peripherally aware of the good times of the 80s and 90s, but a little too late to experience it myself.

Ahhh Cortana Mall
Start off with a slice at Mama Brava
Own fools at Revolution X
Go bug my friend’s older sister who worked at Wet Seal
Toss a quarter in the fountain
Grab a coke at the Orange Julius
Then pick up the latest Resident Evil at Electronics Boutique
Good as it gets if you grew up in Baton Rouge

Trying to date this. I’m thinking 83 or 84 on that Coke shirt. Could be an old shirt too though. I remember the rugby coke shirts came out around then.

Man, I loved going to Babbages to pick out my next Commodore 64 game.
Or was that Electronics Boutique I used to go to? Damn I'm getting old.

If you went to Cortana, EB was narrow but went back aways. Babages was more or less a normal rectangle.

Things really were better then.
Parents dropped kids off and picked them up at a specified time and location without needing cell phones. As a kid, you had so much responsibility. If you had a few bucks in your pocket, you had to figure out a way to make it last.
Don’t even get me started on social skills.
The atmosphere also promoted more physical exertion.

Hell I remember being 6 and my mom leaving me at the arcade for a few hours while she shopped. Nowadays parents would go to jail for child endangerment for pulling something like that.

Damn right that probably would have had to last you at least 3-4 mall trips worth in the arcade.

Everyone I knew had that shirt except me I guess. Never got around to getting one. If I remember correctly they were pretty pricey, or it was probably I was just a broke arse HS kid who blew everything he had at New Generation.
