Went off to LSU in the 80s and waited tables at Los Amigos in Cortana.

Cortana was an awesome mall back then. It was still pretty decent until about the mid 90s.

Example of 80s life:

Rode bikes to mall around 11:00. Hung out at the arcade for an hour. Got hot dogs at Orange Julius. Bought Coke and M&Ms to bribe friends older brother to let us in to watch Red Sonja ($2 ticket). Ice cream at Baskin Robbins. More arcade time (Dig Dug, Pole Position). Dairy Queen to try out this new thing called a "Blizzard". Rode bikes home before dad got home from work.

I was 13.

This looks like inside the old Bon Marche' Mall.

Great time. 70s malls well represented in Blues Brothers, 80s in FTARH & Weird Science, and 90s in Mallrats.

I never would have guessed Walden, Kay-Bee, and Radio Shack would eventually go out of business. If only Bezo's house was hit just before he finished the site...

My dad worked close to the Galleria in the late 70s/early 80s. A few times a summer I’d get up early and go to work with him. I’d go down and ice skate the day away. That mall was pretty boring to a teenager though. Gimme Memorial City Mall anyday.

1st Stage, don't kill the two bees in the first column on the left. Then, just let them do their thing for about 15 minutes. Then, they quit firing and nothing ever fires again.

Edit... I didn't keep reading... I see I'm late to the party on answering.

Anyways, there was one dude that worked in the arcade at the Mall of Memphis... he caught you doing that and he'd make you quit the game.

These 80’s threads NEVER get old for me. I feel so lucky to have been both a kid and a teenager in that decade.

Joy Cinema 6 for $1 movies for Shreveport people. You could see a major release and eat candy, popcorn and drink for $5 total. My cousins lived in Dallas and we went to see Back to the Future when it was released and I was shocked that a ticket alone cost $5.

Member eating TCBY waffle cone and going into the arcade to play some game where you were a car shooting and oil slicking other cars.

Hell I even remember the skateboard shop, where some longhair was chomping on Burger Express watching a Tony Hawk video and not answering questions from any kid in the store.
