i think they're dumb, but the only thing dumber is making a thread to complain about people trying to stay connected and make a loved one feel appreciated safely during a stupid time.

My daughters classmate had one a couple weeks ago. Best kid’s birthday party I’ve ever attended. Was home 15mins after we left and didn’t have to get out of the car!

This! As a dad of a 6 and 2 year old, I hope this becomes the new norm. Wife doesn’t even bother to ask if I want to go.

I found the first one I saw on Facebook to be funny and endearing, but like everything else, I wore thin quickly. I’ve witnessed 2 and seen countless on Facebook. Whatever uniqueness it provided and making the person feel special has now been overplayed.

Don't worry. Obviously, no one is going to throw you one.

That's not true. He had one two weeks ago and plenty of people drove by honking/throwing dog shite at his front door.

My 6 year old had 3 friends drive by.

Drive by birthday parties are for little kids and terminally ill patients. If you’re old enough to have you’re friends drive themselves by, you’re too old to have drive by birthday party.

On an annoyance scale of 1-10 (10 being the worst) of annoying coronavirus-related items, the drive-by parties rate a 0.5. You just sound uptight.

Don’t see anything wrong other than the burning out or excessive honking.

Yep! A classmate of my 6 yo daughter had one Saturday. My pregnant wife didn’t have to get dolled up to go - first birthday party she didn’t mind going to.

The burning out would piss me off because of the chance that some teenager driving like a dipshit on a residential street ends up damaging property or hurting someone. The honking and yelling wouldn't bother me unless they kept circling the block over and over.
