You want proof Louisiana is a shithole?

In case you had any doubt?
Watch "Aerial America" on Smithsonian Channel (on every Saturday and Sunday morning).
Filmed from 2011 to 2018, they do flyovers of every state and provide descriptions and histories of each state (people, places, events). They are not tourism pieces and do talk about issues (current and historical) in each state (usually environmental [fracking is routinely described as "controversial"]), but sometimes sociological [race/slavery]).
There hasn't been one I have watched where I and my wife haven't said we'd like to see that state...except Louisiana.
First, well over 1/2 the program was about New Orleans (where it was mentioned to have an incredible murder rate).
Second, there's apparently nothing in the state west of Avery Island (Lafayette apparently does not exist) or north of Angola.
If it's not the loss of coastal wetlands, it's the high cancer rates in "Cancer Alley" and the pollution on the Mississippi from petrochemical plants.
On the other hand, the Mississippi and Arkansas episodes were very good. You'd actually want to go there.

I bought the aerial America Bluray and went to New York to see the twin towers and they were GONE.
So perhaps they aren't very accurate or well researched.

I agree. There’s nothing of value here for me except my family. That’s the only thing that’s kept me here.

I don't why they'd spend half the show talking about one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States.

Then you are doing it wrong.

Most people don’t need a tv show to tell us this.
Driving past the state line does it for me

Sounds like proof that the show kinda sucked.

So because the Smithsonian channel does a shite piece on Louisiana it's proof that Louisiana sucks?

Lived in Louisiana my whole life, with several family members in the petrochemical industry.
This show was the first time I ever heard the lower Mississippi River and surrounding land be called “Cancer Alley”

New Orleans is all the proof you need.
Louisiana's crowning jewel, it's epicenter of culture, business, tourism and art is.....The closest thing we have to an underdeveloped country inside the borders of the United States of America.
When a shite hole inside of a shite hole is the best you've got. You're fricked in all three holes.
