There a few LA food stamps beneficiaries on this board that try to say otherwise, but LA is a dump. Just look at the trash on the streets.

I always like to visit Jackson, "The Paris on The Pearl" and take a little side trip to Brandon or Pelahatchie
In Pearl MS (right across the river from Jxn) there is a small jr college campus (a few buildings, actually a branch of the main jr college in another town) that locals call "Harvard On The Highway"

FWIW Brandon is not a bad suburb. Don't really know Pelahatchie.

Take these Smithsonian idiots and put them in a deer stand in the piney woods of north La , then ask them what they hear.

When they say nothing say exactly

No traffic, no sirens, no horns just "nothing"

It's Beautiful

Lived in Louisiana my whole life, with several family members in the petrochemical industry.

This show was the first time I ever heard the lower Mississippi River and surrounding land be called “Cancer Alley”
And you'd never heard the expression "Cancer Aley"? I heard it as a kid in the '80s.

Interesting how Cancer Alley population is increasing. It's like people would rather risk cancer than live in BR. I wonder why that is.

That was a very disappointing episode. Love that show, but they just focused on a small part of the state and didn't seem to put a lot of effort in this one. More on them than the state.

Coined in union negotiations.

No proof has ever been brought that there are actually higher cancer rates in cancer alley. Only higher risk factors.

Figure over 40 years there would be plenty of evidence.

I live in BR and make a lot more than $25/hr. More than double that actually. Not saying either have great job markets. I agree with you in principle.

Well saying people don't make more than $25/hr is silly. I work with a lot of people who make more than that.

Saying the job market here isn't very diverse would probably be a better way to bash Louisiana. Plenty of baws in heavy industry make pretty solid livings here but it's a poor job market as a whole for a lot of college graduates for sure.

Probably just a daddy hater that pursued her dreams of making 60k in Houston as an Assistant something or other.
