Andrew Zimmern has a new series, “What’s Eating America,” which debuts tonight (16th).

It's not about bizarre food. Is more of an investigative/opinion show.

Trigger warning: It's on MSNBC, and the first five topics are immigration, climate change, addiction, voter suppression and health care.

The addiction one could be interesting. He's talked before about being a junkie. A WaPo article says it's "a painfully raw and often moving hour in which Zimmern lays out his own battle with drugs and alcohol."

He's no longer on Travel Channel (now Trvl Channel), which has shifted its programming to focus on ghosts, monsters and the paranormal. [Another sign the idiocracy is happening.]

Can’t we simply compartmentalize this? I watch movies and listen to music from actors and musicians that I probably don’t see eye to eye with and still appreciate their skills.

If you’re favorite team’s quarterback or running back was the opposite of your beliefs would you no longer cheer for them?

If he's not eating fermented donkey balls and pickled toenails, then count me the frick out.

Isn’t that exactly what the guy you’re replying to is doing? He said he follows (present tense) on Twitter, thus he must be a fan of Zimmern’s food stuff but evidently he’s not of his political takes so he isn’t going to watch the show.

Oops Facebook not twitter, but comment still stands.

We all have our demons. I haven't watched the new show, but I will say that I have met Andrew and he is an incredibly nice, humble, engaging guy. I always thought he was very personable on his other shows, and he exhibited that in real life as well. No idea about his politics, don't care, he's a genuinely good guy.

All this and I'll add.......have interviewed him a few times and he's always been very gracious and appreciative. Sent us autographed copies of one of his books after the initial time.

I too don't care about his politics.......that being said, this show topic wise doesn't sound like one I'd be overly interested in. Probably will DVR and take a look later. Won't be a priority though. Hope he's back doing food oriented shows soon

Big fan of his travel channel shows, but I made the mistake of following him on Twitter for recipes. He’s got full on TDS and isn’t smart enough to really know what he’s mad about.

I am confident it will be a balanced presentation.

He said Gov. Abbott was going to outlaw interracial marriage. I had to just ignore him

Well, he must not be too mad at Texas because he's definitely one of the featured chefs at Austin Food + Wine this year.

Always liked Zimmern but don’t want to hear his take on politics.

Anyone that liked zimmerns shows should check out best ever food review show on YouTube. Top notch production and the sort of follow the same style as zimmern did back in the day.

The first episode was really good, IMO....impossible to argue with what they were putting down. Immigrant workers are key to our food production.
