2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that the depth of Aaron Rodger's thoughts on theology/philosophy are about ankle deep.

Is that quote really about climate change? He’s not just talking about the actual, literal hell?
The article is weird. They reference climate change but follow it up with that quote which seems un-related

He complains about global warming but plays in snow every home game

The part about climate change is not included as a QUOTE. I've learned to never expect a completely faithful reporting of what a person says / means.
So, I personally could have said his quote. I agree that it makes no sense for an "ALL POWERFUL, ALL LOVING" God to remain hidden from view and condemn much of His "creation" to a fiery Hell.
Now, 'you' may read my comments as meaning Climate Change when in fact I mean the Biblical Hell.
Also, in a long form interview, I may have discussed climate change. In fact, that may have led n=me to experience other people and made me think about if they were "Saved"...but, the "fiery Hell" comments could be unrelated to that.

Perhaps I should have said premise rather than reasoning.

Aaron is an idiot. This was foretold in the Bible.
"He will cleanse the earth. When Jesus comes again, He will come in power and great glory. At that time the wicked will be destroyed. All things that are corrupt will be burned, and the earth will be cleansed by fire."
How is the Earth going to be cleansed by fire without global warming?

"makes not sense" only applies in Universe wherein there is NO God. God being a Spirit...and Creation a (Spiritual) derivative of the Creative Spirit.
What if an all powerful God decided to create imperfect/limited Beings (us) for the purpose of sharing Love. More Being...more Love. Could not the 'imperfection' (think Evil) that would come into existence upon said Creation...accuse God of creating Beings that - having no choice - were destined to worship Him? Outside of God allowing that choice...what would that make God/God's Act (of Creation)? Answer: a SELF SERVING Act; one that backs up the 'Critic's basic assertion. The 'Critic' being the "Accuser". The Serpent, offering the education ("Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil") of the which only an educated choice justifies the goodness of the whole Creative Enterprise. And of God itself.
God's hands are tied in this respect; *He* is subordinate to "The Word", just like the rest of us. He IS "The Word". "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God...and The Word WAS God". God is also Love. Perfect Unity. Us...we have only choice before us. Either choice is valid, in this Realm. But both Choices are not equal; though all things end melting back into the Source.
It's the 'Melting'...I.e., 'death' that matters. From an Empirical perspective...two individuals die...one Believer (Subjectively) experiences an expansion and union with a Loving Creator. Perfect Love and Unity.
The Non-believer experiences a feeling-less (assuming they are in control of their Feeling) dissolution of their Consciousness; they cease to be...eternally so. That Belief...results in a Feeling...'Warriorhood' and control, nws. From the view of an Outsider...both individuals die the same death...but from the Subjective VP of the individual...two totally different experiences.
Hope the Old Man is doing well, BH. Getting old has it's burdens...and rewards as well. I would love to have coffee with Him. He must be an extraordinary individual. Some day it'll happen. It's my Will going forward, and the Gift from my own...loving Father.

“I don’t know how you can believe in a God who wants to condemn most of the planet to a fiery hell,” he said. “What type of loving, sensitive, omnipresent, omnipotent being wants to condemn his beautiful creation to a fiery hell at the end of all this?”
He has it 180 degrees backward. How can anyone who believes in God believe in man made climate change or the catastrophic climate change that the lunatics predict.
I have often said we are called to be good stewards of the land because of our faith (if you are a believer) but that there is no way short of massive weaponry use (nukes and lots of them) man can destroy the planet.

So if there was any doubt as to who was at fault for the ongoing Rodgers family feud the media likes to talk about every time he is on TV we now have our answer. What a dumbass. Hanging out in Berkeley while in college must've fried his brain.

I feel like Aaron Rodgers becomes more unlikeable every year.

I didn't need another reason to hate that douche nozzle, but one more won't hurt.

The idea of God is probably a silly human invention to make us feel good about ourselves. Global Warming is a silly human invention to make us feel bad about ourselves!

"Hey Aaron...2nd Peter 3:9" of as the president would say "two Peter".

It pisses me off every time I see one of those shitty State Farm commercials. I was with them for 2 decades. They denied the 3 claims I made but apparently have enough money to run ads 20 times during an nfl game.

Aaron seems to be the kind of guy that takes a philosophy 101 class and let's that experience dictate his worldview
Posted on 1/23/20 at 9:32 am to Roaad
Sometimes your gut is spot on.
I knew this guy was D-bag. Just knew it.

People who have it all in life despite being non-believers are entirely missing the point and the message. Also his understanding of Christianity seems tenuous at best.
