Is there a logical explanation for the 4 year cycle? (2003,2007,2011,*2015,2019)

It can't be a coincidence that LSU football peaks every 4 years since 2003.

2003 (13-1) Won SEC Won NC
2007 (12-2) Won SEC Won NC
2011 (13-1) Won SEC lost NC
*2015 (9-3) only exception, but still a great year by Fournette
2019 (15-0) Won SEC Won NC

What causes this? Has recruiting followed a similar cycle?

No coincidence, we play better at Bama.

my complete guess (minus 2003 of course) would be that the year following a natty leads to a great recruiting class and 3 years after that the great recruiting class are Juniors and win a natty of their own.

The 2000 Sugar Bowl (1999 season) was the last time the Superdome hosted a national championship game that LSU didn't play in

I will never get this. We have been shut out by bama 2 times in the last 4 years but haven’t been shutout in Alabama since 74’. Is it a pressure thing? This will continue to baffle me.

We should have made some noise 2015. Serious meltdown after losing to Bama that year. That defense was stacked.

Good guess. You could also point to the NC “cash in” factor where guys that may have stayed one more year decide to bail after getting all that publicity. Can’t blame them. It’s just like free agency in the pros.

We are always going to have more success on odd years due to our SEC schedule. Florida, aTm, Arkansas, Auburn at home, @ Alabama (where we play better for some reason), and the Mississippi schools have not been good for awhile making those road games much easier to win. Plus the east is weak outside of Georgia and Florida. So whoever rotates on is a penciled in W

Not coincidence, IMO.

Schedule lines up better

AU and FL at home.

And away team in AL game has statistically done better for decades
