Has anyone travelled through security at MSY this week? I’m wondering how long the lines will be tomorrow morning. We have TSA precheck. Hopefully that will help. Can’t wait.

I went through yesterday around 5:30 p.m. and it only took ten minutes or so.

I went there this weekend. I was skeptical but very happy to see such a huge airport. There were zero waits for anything but it wasn’t a holiday Very nice airport

Lol this is no longer a thing. Everything is fine

FWIW, The news ran a piece on it and said that MSY suggests arriving 3 hours in advance for the holidays.

Dropped my wife off at 11:30 Sunday, and she made it from the car to the gate (including checking a bag) in under 20 minutes. Not saying it won’t be longer but that’s pretty solid.

I went through the first day it opened and when only two lines were functional (at about 6 pm). It took less than 10 minutes.

In the airport now, no lines really.

You’ve decided to fly out of a new airport on the day before Thanksgiving??
We should probably talk abut your decision-making skills.

Every major airport in the country will have some lines and delays this week. It isn't an MSY thing.
From everything I have heard, they are running smoothly and efficiently.
The only thing I haven't gotten an update on is the Uber/Lyft line.

I only fly private but I’ve heard that MSY is not as bad as advertised

It’s fine now all the hand wringing was retarded

TSA has been fixed (all 15 lanes are installed and can be utilized during peak periods).

Sign up for Clear. It takes 3 minutes and is well worth it.

Can't speak to this week, but I flew a week ago at 10:00 am. I parked in short term and there were zero people at TSA precheck. I walked right up to the conveyor. From car to gate was prob 15 mins total. Almost all of the headaches I have heard of have to do with checking bags.

I left out of MSY on 11/16. The TSA Pre-check was longer than normal but they have the area to put in extra TSA folks (and we could have used an extra one when I went through).
Bring shades or plan your seating in the concourse strategically. The walls facing the tarmac are glass ceiling to floor and there are no shades, drapes, etc. The concourses run almost exactly north-south, this means in the mornings and afternoons the sun is going to be either in your face or at your back depending on where you sit.
We flew back in Saturday evening. The wife was parked at employee parking and I was at USPark. We figured the best idea was for her to get her vehicle while I waited on the bags and then she would pick me up outside.
Baaaaaaaaaaad idea.
Because there is only the one road that acts as both entrance and exit, it took her a full 30 minutes to get from employee parking (which is at the old MSY) through the line of traffic to the airport. Apparently most people are enamored with the idea of being picked up first so the vast majority of people waiting on rides congregate at the first two doors. This makes a bad traffic problem even worse even though the cops are there and (sometimes) making people make a loop if the person they are there to pick up hasn't made it out yet.
If they had just put in separate roads for arrivals and departures each (they could still have the linking road) it would solve what's going to be a massive clusterfrick this weekend.
The parking lot companies have their own route in and out that we mere peons cannot access (any longer, thanks to security arms) so it may overall be faster access both in and out to park there (Park-n-Fly, USPark, etc).
Best bet is to get there 2-3 hours early (maybe even 4) to make sure you are there in time to make it through the traffic as well as the check-in lines.

It isn’t bad. It’s only one check point, but more lanes open.
You’ll be good.

The traffic is horrible.
