About 500 gallons of Copper Sulfate would do the trick if need and that is going to cost $50 mil? I am thinking more like $10,000 and a a day of work for 4 people, so$15,000 would do the trick. SO who is getting their pockets stuffed with the left over $50,085,000 remainder?

Remember when we had to vote for this or traffic would never get better? Now it turns out we had to vote for this to buy Honor Code votes.

This all sounds like a heated bucket of diarrhea.

Going after that sawft R crowd that swung the mayor’s race to Broome. If the race is that close it’s not a bad idea.
I wonder how the area’s drainage issues will be incorporated into the plan. Probably not at all.

STUDIES? Woah woah, let's not get ahead of ourselves now.
We need to have at least 4-5 catered luncheons at TJ Ribs, then we'll need to take at least one tax payer funded week long trip to another city across the country so we can visit their lakes. WAAAY BEFORE, we hire a black owned or LBGTQ owned firm for a study. talk about putting the cart before the horse. there's thousands of tax payer dollars to waste before any stinking study takes place.

The original MoveEBR proposition includes drainage, sidewalks, and lighting. This could easily improve the lakes if they used a few bucks to improve lighting and sidewalks. Pretty sure the lakes will fall under the drainage category too.
quote:
PROPOSITION Shall the Parish of East Baton Rouge Capital Improvements District (“District”) be authorized to levy a one-half of one percent (0.50%) sales tax (the “Sales Tax”) (an estimated $46,000,000 is reasonably expected to be collected for one entire year), for 30 years, commencing April 1, 2019, to and including March 31, 2049, and shall the proceeds thereof be used (A) (i) to construct or improve roads, including drainage projects and traffic synchronization, within the cities of Baton Rouge, Baker, Central and Zachary and the Parish of East Baton Rouge (the “Parish”), (ii) to improve existing corridors to increase mobility, including signal synchronization and sidewalks, and (iii) to construct community enhancement projects, including drainage, lights and sidewalks, within the cities of Baton Rouge, Baker, Central and Zachary and the Parish, and (B) to improve the Advanced Traffic Management Center, such improvements prioritized (i) within the Parish and Baton Rouge as described in the MovEBR Plan dated August 8, 2018, and (ii) within Baker, Zachary and Central, as determined by the applicable governing authority, and shall the aforementioned political subdivisions be authorized to fund proceeds of the Sales Tax into bonds as permitted by the laws of Louisiana?

The voters approved this because it was for road/traffic and pedestrian infrastructure. It even had a listing of specific projects, none of them was for lake rehab.
Then Sharon Hyphen Broome will be suing those stealing allocated taxes for other projects. Is she warming up her personal lawyer?

Damn yall are an angry bunch when you dont have a clue whats going on... If, at minimum, you actually look at the sketch of the plans, you would be able to tell that these plans arent just there to get rid of weeds. They are building what looks to be bridges, connecting some of the lakes, walking paths, green spaces, and a bunch of other things. It actually looks pretty cool and should be a nice addition.

Now we just wait and see if it ever actually gets far enough along to be a reality while taxes are used for other portions of this lake master plan.
In a year or two from now, once the taxes from movEBR have been used to dredge lakes and the roads/sidewalks haven't been started, the money will again be moved to another fund

All of that is gingerbread.
Job one should be to create a low maintenance lake that provides some stormwater holding value. It is after all part of a drainage basin. The design and engineering of the lake and drainage system should be job 1.
And then yes, the sidewalks, brides, park, etc. features can be done.

ain't nobody got time for that. This involves JBE and SWB. Only downvotes and criticism are allowed. A similar project could happen in St. George with different names attached and this would be 20 pages of jerking off the parties heroically involved.

The PM version of the BRBR further clarified the use of the MovEBR money.
quote:
Mayor Sharon Weston Broome has also pledged to use some of the estimated $49 million set aside in the MovEBR plan for sidewalks and other enhancements to pay for the new walking and biking trails around the lakes.
