He’s right. Right now, the system looks broken.

it is broken....They never came out what exactly they look for when picking top 4...is it most deserving? is it best record? is it quality wins? Resume? Conf Champ? quality loses? there is no parameter for there selection. if they go by any of these scenarios it changes week to week on which they will follow

I'm not watching the video, but this is premature hand wringing. The committee only exists to pick the top four teams at the end of the season. It does not matter who is number 1 or number 4 or number 12 this week.

The system is specifically not the BCS where preseason rankings mattered as much as on field performance.

The only reason the committee does weekly updates is to keep people paying attention and giving clicks.

I don't like Brando, but he's right.
And the committee will play favorites, using such criteria as "the eye test".

As long as there remains a subjective "eye test" and a system that doesn't account for recognizing conference champions, the whole thing will remain broken. I don't care how many teams you extend the playoffs to.

It is broken. It seems to me that the committee goes mostly with an eye test and also use the name test also to distinguish when eye test isn’t enough.
Need to use some sort of point system wher variables are assigned points. Use:
Strength of schedule as one. The tougher the schedule the more the points.
Standings in Conference.
Ranking of offense and defense
Things like that and assign points penalize for easy schedules and things like that
Don’t go by who the coach is or what they have done in years past. It seems like the committee is too biased to do what’s been going on.

I like Brando but completely disagree with many of his proposals for tinkering with the system. 6,8, or more teams is not the answer. I also don’t think all conference champs belong in the fray either. Automatic qualifiers will lead to 6-4 teams playing for a Natty.
I actually prefer the old BCS system.

Tim Brando is never scared to tell it like it is, and it's awesome.

The CFP Committee is going to have some serious shite to talk about this week.

It's 8 or 2 for me. If we're gonna hold teams accountable for conference champs, then move to 8, so every AQ conference has a seat at the table.

If conference titles don't matter, then go back to the BCS and let the best two teams fight it out. Never thought I'd prefer the BCS to a playoff, but if Bama keeps getting this privilege, the only solution is to retract.

I haven’t watched yet but to even consider Bama is a travesty.

That’s like saying well they lost but we are putting the most stacked teams in any ways.

The games and schedule should matter. They couldn’t afford a loss with that schedule. They lost at home.

This is my biggest complaint too. Basically they can justify any combination of teams they pick since there’s no set criteria so it really comes down to eye test again ...which is what started the whole bcs system to begin with. So we’re back to opinion based rankings.

How long does Alabama’s playoff privilege last? How many seasons should the selection committee continue to slip them in on reputation and not on power of schedule and field accomplishments?

If Bama gets in why did they ever leave UCF out? What is keeping Bama from scheduling I-AA teams from now on if that's the weak arse shite the committee is gonna allow. They've lobbied the SEC to maintain their weak permanent opponent then scheduled garbage teams out of conference. Lost at home. You can stay at home this year, Bama.

That’s what I am saying. It’s a rigged system. Personally, I don’t think Bama stays at 4 if they get their this week. They will play Auburn to end the season and that will be their top win of the season. It should count that they got their asses whipped at home.
Oregon and Utah staying with 1 loss will be a huge blow to Bama. If Oklahoma stays with 1 loss, that will also be a huge blow. 2 teams with 1 loss and a conference title to boot will be too much to keep Bama in front of them. The committee can’t allow that to happen. Doing it twice to allow Bama to back in without playing in the title game is bullshite over 1 team. Doing it to 2 teams is worst especially with 1 loss.
